8 month sleeping on his stomach
A few times after I've put DS down to sleep he's gone from his side (where he usually sleeps to his stomach) and is sleeping that way.
I've been nervous because his head is never flush against the mattress so I've turned him over (he can roll over by himself also).
When do you stop worrying about stomach sleeping? When is it safe to leave them there?

Re: 8 month sleeping on his stomach
My DD started exclusively sleeping on her stomach as soon as she learned how to roll over from back to belly (3 months). My ped said at the time that as long as they can roll over and lift their head on their own, they are fine.
The only annoying part was that she took a long time to figure out how to roll over from belly to back, so in the beginning she'd get stuck on her stomach and not know how to move. Luckily that was short-lived!

Re: 8 month sleeping on his stomach
I've never stopped worrying about something happening to DD in her sleep and she is 2 years old.
However, once she stated sleeping on her tummy, I would flip her over before I went to bed. Invariably, she would end up back on her belly but there was nothing I could do about it since I was asleep so we got used to it. I think at 8 months your DC is fine.

Re: 8 month sleeping on his stomach
I don't remember how old DS was when he started sleeping on his stomach, but it was definitely before 8 months and my ped said it was fine.

Re: 8 month sleeping on his stomach
Seans's been sleeping on his stomach since about 4 months ?? Maybe earlier. - He startedon his side, but as soon as he could roll himself over he did -
The Ped said it was fine. He gave me the "I can't TELL you to put him on his stomach........" thing - But what was I supposed to do? Stand over his crib all night and keep pushing him back over onto his back?
He's comfortable, he could move his head easily if he had to - so I leave him alone.

My Ped is the same way. Not thrilled he started rolling to his belly and only sleeps that way since 3 months, but you can't stand over him all night either. Mason will lift his head from one side to the other every once in a while so I know he's strong enough.

Once DS started rolling over I wasn't worried anymore. There was nothing I could do at that point. He slept the way he was comfortable.

Re: 8 month sleeping on his stomach
It's totally fine. My DD actually prefers her back, but does sleep on her tummy usually for her naps. While on her tummy she prefers to sleep with her face smooshed in the mattress...

ditto. DS always sleeps on his stomach now. I do check on him, but he's in a deeper sleep now anyway (wish he would stop waking up at 1Am THOUGH!!!)
