8 week old only wants mommy??

Isnt it too early for this. My husband has a hard time soothing the baby. Even this morning.. I slept in and he had the baby... DS is usually amazing in the mornings. I woke up to him crying. He ate and played and then couldn't get soothed to sleep with DH.

But the min I come in and pick him up he is fine and falls alseep within secs. This is also at night as well.

However he is fine with DH during middle of the night feedings.\

Isn't it too early for him to ONLY want mommy?? How do we break him of this. He starts day care in 3 weeks!! UGGG Im sure that will help too right???

this happens to me too. i think its just the natural maternal instinct that we have. the babys can pick up on it. its probably a phase.

DD was like that around the same time. She only wanted me and cried whenever DH tried to play with her or soothe her.

It only lasted about 2 weeks. Now she can't get enough of her daddy!

It could really just be that he isn't used to your DH being the one to soothe him, or DH does it slightly differently than you do, so it throws him off.

I think that the best thing to do is let DH try to handle it on his own, so DS gets more used to the both of you doing stuff and that will make it easier. I think as mothers, we had a tendency to swoop in and try to fix everything, and then our DCs just get used to that, KWIM?

Re: 8 week old only wants mommy??

Both my kids did this to dh. Dd still does half the time and she is 4 months. Just give it time and don't let your dh give in to the baby. He will find something that works for him. Chat Icon Chat Icon I know its hard hearing the baby cry but dh needs to figure this one out for himself. Just give him a couple ideas of what ds likes.

Thanks laides!!! Im glad Im not the only one!! DH has had DS all day. Im letting him do all the feedings and soothing and Im doing the house work that he usually does. He def needs to get used to him. He is trying to sooth him to sleep now and Ds is ok..just fighting sleeping right now.

DD is like this too. He tries really hard but sometimes the only thing that soothes her at night is nursing. She's good during the day but at night she only wants mommy. I think its a good idea to let DH find a way to soothe DC but I know its hard when your hear them crying
