9/22 TANNER UPDATE...please pray for my 2 year old nephew
ANOTHER UPDATE!! 9/22
thank you again to all of you who are praying for tanner and his family. tanner had a 2nd dose of heavy chemo last week...the first dose made him very, very sick and he had to stay in the hospital for days w mucisitis which is unpleasant enough on top of everything else he's been through. this round, he's ok so far...his counts are down to zero but he isn't as sick as the last round...and the doctors think that this might be enough to get him to the study at sloan they've been waiting to put him into.
i don't really have much more than that as far as a health update...but there are a few fundraisers coming up for tanner and his family, including a bowling event, and a cupcake sale at a cafe. if anyone is interested in attending, or if you would like to get more regular tanner updates or be part of "team tanner", check out or join our team tanner facebook page:

UPDATE 8/5:

i'm sorry i haven't updated in so long; my husband and i have spent nearly all of our free time at the hospital ever since this all happened.
tanner has been receiving the radiation. for the first week he was hooked up to machines and was sedated. the next week he started to wake up a bit, but wasn't speaking or moving much. now, he is up in his hospital bed, saying a few words, and playing. he's still in intensive care, and he's still receiving the radiation through this coming monday. but if this doesn't completely kill the cancer, there's not much more they can do for him.
if it DOES work, and the cancer is gone then they will be sending him to sloan kettering and he will be part of an anti-body research study. the study could be treatment for him if his cancer comes back in the future, and it would mean that he probably would never have to go through chemo and radiation again. not only that, but being part of this study means that if it works, he could be helping this "study" to become "treatment" or even "cure" for people who have cancer in the future!! so tanner could be helping to save lives. maybe that's the reason for all of this, who knows.
in order to qualify for the study, he has to go for 3 weeks with no chemo or radiation. so if this cancer is not gone after monday's radiation, then they might not be able to do much else. he can still have chemo, but the radiation is what works so quickly, and this tumor is the fastest growing thing i've ever heard of.
please pray that this works and that tanner will be ok.

UPDATE ON TANNER RIGHT HERE:
yesterday we found out that this is cancer; and that it has spread through his entire brain. unfortunately, they gave tanner the maximum dosage of radiation allowed for a 2 year old over the past 9 months of his treatment and normally would not be giving him ANY more...but they told his parents if they do not give him an EXTREMELY RISKY dose of radiation right away, that he would be in a COMMA by monday, and WOULD NOT LIVE through the end of the week!!!! so they signed a waiver and started the radiation last night, hoping for a miracle.
i just don't understand how he went from beating cancer and finally being ok...to near-death in a matter of weeks. but i am begging you all to please pray very, very hard for tanner. you can't imagine what a sweet and amazing little boy he is...he doesn't deserve this and neither does his family. his parents are incredible people...HE is an incredible little person. this world needs him, he's going to be something very special if he makes it through this. PLEASE, we need every single prayer that we can get. please please pray for him.

i posted back in september about my nephew, tanner when they found a tumor in his brain which was malignant. after 9 months of chemo and radiation, we celebrated just 2 weeks ago on the 4th of july that tanner had finished his chemo and had beaten cancer.
but the results from his MRI this past thursday show a new mass in his brain. they are not yet sure what it is - it could be an infection, or it could be another tumor. our family is beyond devastated...he JUST beat cancer and now it could be starting all over again. we are hoping and praying that this is just an infection...they will probably be doing another biopsy on tuesday to find out.
please, please, please pray for tanner...the sweetest, bravest little boy in the whole world.

His eyes looks like the eyes of someone who is going to gracefully handle whatever life throws at him. I hope that makes sense. May he win his battle!!!!!!!!!!!!

The cancer is back. It is very aggressive. We are praying that strong radiation can save Tanner.
