9 months old... 101.8 degree fever...

What would you do?

I came home from work tonight, kissed DS hello and he felt like his head was on fire. Took his temp and it was 101.8.

Called the off hour number for our ped and a doctor should call back in the next half hour. Gave him some baby Tylenol...

Is there anything else I can/should do? This is his first fever. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Tylenol is good, if it doesnt go down, you can alternate with motrin. BUt thats not such a high fever for a 9 month old. Chat Icon

Thanks! FIrst time mommy, first fever... little bit of a freak out!

I went and read online that for 9 month olds they aren't really concerned until it's over 103! Chat Icon WOW! Learned something new tonight!

And we just put him down to sleep and it was 100.8... headed in the right direction!

that temp is nothing to worry about, your child is probably just cutting a tooth, just monitor it keep with the tylenol and you can wipe your child down with a damp cloth

That temp is ok - DS has had it after shots. Just give him tylenol and it should come down. Like you said, at this age they don't really start to worry until it goes higher. Even at DS's 10 wk visit ped said we should give tylenol and only call if temp was over 102.Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon hope he feels better!
