Re: Hmmm...I was crazy when I mentioned a Third Dose
A third dose is strictly for those with severely compromised immune systems such as those with HIV or who have had organ transplants. A third dose is not necessary for the "general population" as their immune systems are strong enough to generate the needed antibodies to protect them against COVID.

Terrific news! My niece with MS got vaccinated but her level of antibodies are like non-existent due to the immunosuppressant drug she is on.

Yes, that’s the goal for now but they have not abandoned the idea of also providing a third dose, booster...whatever u wanna call it, to the regular population.

Absolutely. The booster has always been talked about. I was told there would NEVER be a third and I was crazy for thinking this. I am sure I can go back and find the names I was called too. No matter what it will be used for, they are talking about third one.

A third dose because someone who is immunocompromised is not developing enough antibodies to combat the virus AT ALL is NOT the same as "healthy" vaccinated individuals who *might* need a yearly shot (much like the flu shot) if it's found the efficacy of the vaccines wanes over time.

You were told that CURRENTLY there is NO third dose of any of the vaccines for healthy individuals. Pfizer and Moderna are a TWO dose vaccine with the possibility that it *might* become a yearly vaccine like the flu shot.
You INSISTED that people who were currently getting vaccinated needed three doses which is completely untrue. Get the facts straight about that conversation.

I remember the conversation. She didn’t say there were currently 3 shots given to people, she said there were talks about making a third one which is completely different. I don’t understand what’s the big deal if they make a third dose for the regular population. If u (general u) believe in this vaccine, I don’t think it should bother u getting another one. 1, 2, 3 who cares.

Exactly, there was no indication a third for healthy or unhealthy as that was never spoken about.
She is just trying to prove that I am wrong.

Needing a third dose wouldn't bother me but the only real chatter about the current vaccine is that the two dose vaccines are working well for "healthy" individuals but that it might become a yearly shot. I can see why an immediate third shot is needed for those who can't generate enough antibodies to protect themselves.

Yes, this is exactly what happened. The prior post by WW was that a 3rd dose was already happening, at the time of the past post

If I remember correctly WW asked if people who got vaccinated were told if and when they might need a third dose. She asked a question and got laughed at for not understanding anything. It was a legitimate question as many have talked about a third dose or additional booster.

Her exact words:
"No one answered part of my post but when you got vaccinated, do they tell you when you need to come back for the 3rd dose?"
Page 4 VB's comment
She was then told repeatedly that it's a two dose vaccine but refused to listen to anyone and continued to insist a third dose is needed which obviously isn't the case.

What are you linking to? I suggested a third dose and was laughed at and told one or 2 doses is enough and how stupid of me to think that it was mentioned to anyone when they got their vaccine.

I'm not going to have the SAME argument with you. That is NOT what you "suggested". You asked us flat out if our third dose were scheduled and then continued to argue when you were told there is no third dose.
The FACT is it's TWO dose vaccine unless (as of yesterday) you're severely immunocompromised.
There is NO 3rd dose for anyone who received the vaccine, just talk of a possible YEARLY shot going forward.
You are the one who is wrong and if you're going to insist on there being a 3rd dose needed for those who are vaccinated you will continue to make yourself look foolish.

Not really interested in going back and forth. Have plans to see friends at a block party and super excited to spend time with them and watch some bands play.
Enjoy your weekend

Yes, that’s the goal for now but they have not abandoned the idea of also providing a third dose, booster...whatever u wanna call it, to the regular population.
Absolutely. The booster has always been talked about. I was told there would NEVER be a third and I was crazy for thinking this. I am sure I can go back and find the names I was called too. No matter what it will be used for, they are talking about third one.
Ah yes, U’re right. It was a question she asked.

Re: Hmmm...I was crazy when I mentioned a Third Dose
My question is why are people so adamant about the fact that they know anything when it comes to covid and the vaccine? The best I can say is that it’s totally evolving and we STILL know very little. I mean the efficacy of the Pfizer vaccine is anywhere from 42 to 96% effective. That’s a pretty large range no?!?!?! That alone tells me that no one knows anything. But yeah, I guess a stay at home mom that reads a couple articles and talks to her friends at the gym about covid must know more. People just need to understand that everything you think about this whole situation is your opinion. And people will have different opinions. It’s not them spreading misinformation. It’s amazing to me the arrogance of some people that they think they are so much smarter than other people without taking the time to read what they have to say. For me, I love having conversations with people that think differently than I do because it makes me question why I think the way I do. And if I disagree I don’t say anything I just politely walk away. I certainly don’t scream at them or call them stupid. People have just lost all common decency.

Waiting on the hubby to get ready. All packed up with our goodies. One kid fighting for the bathroom so they can go out too. The other sleeping until work. Dog sleeping, as usual lol. Nothing better to do than check out this site.

Totally agree with all of this.
Same! These same arguments are going on in local Facebook groups.
