My question is why are people so adamant about the fact that they know anything when it comes to covid and the vaccine? The best I can say is that it’s totally evolving and we STILL know very little. I mean the efficacy of the Pfizer vaccine is anywhere from 42 to 96% effective. That’s a pretty large range no?!?!?! That alone tells me that no one knows anything. But yeah, I guess a stay at home mom that reads a couple articles and talks to her friends at the gym about covid must know more. People just need to understand that everything you think about this whole situation is your opinion. And people will have different opinions. It’s not them spreading misinformation. It’s amazing to me the arrogance of some people that they think they are so much smarter than other people without taking the time to read what they have to say. For me, I love having conversations with people that think differently than I do because it makes me question why I think the way I do. And if I disagree I don’t say anything I just politely walk away. I certainly don’t scream at them or call them stupid. People have just lost all common decency.

Totally agree with all of this.

Same! These same arguments are going on in local Facebook groups.

People will treat others much different than if they were having the same discussion in person.
I wonder if some would do the same in person, tell them they are an idiot and to go away and then just expect them to get up and walk away and be fine with that.

I am wondering where you got the 42% from. It looks like it might be from the recent Minnesota study that measured its efficacy against the Delta variant. The experts admit it's a relatively small study and more need to be done.

Either way, your range requires context. Most of the studies are on the higher end of those numbers and for a greater number of variants.

I don't think it's accurate to say we know very little. There is plenty more to learn, but the technology behind the major vaccines is over a decade old. We're also going on a year now that people have been administered this vaccine (taking into account trials) and there is data on millions of people. It's disingenuous to throw our hands in the air and say "oh well, we don't know shit, can't trust anything, etc." There are ways to parse data to figure out what the story is, or a good idea of what it seems to be.

While you're lamenting the loss of common decency you might consider your own role, as you repeatedly condescend to Hofstra about her being a stay at home mom or an out of work K teacher or whatever similar derogatory thing you have said.

As for my own opinion - not directed at you, lululu - I'm obviously very pro vax and I love when I hear about organizational rules that incentivize people to get it. On the other hand, there are reasonable arguments to be made that it should be a choice.

The only thing that really bothers me is when unvaccinated adults walk around indoor public places without masks. We are in a pandemic and there is zero excuse. That type of behavior is reprehensible and tells me something about a person's character. I'm sure someone will jump down my throat now but I could not possibly care less if I tried really hard to figure out a way to do so. If you don't do that, then I'm not talking to you.

Couldn’t care less is the saying. Why would it bother you if you are vaccinated since you believe the percentage is quite high? If you are worried, I would suggest wearing a mask and give everyone that choice.
Do you wear masks around friends and family you see inside that are not vaccinated or does this only go for stores for you?

Yay - so glad it was approved. My dr said I have to wait 2 months since the second dose so I can get my booster mid-September. (I'm included in the group b/c one of the chemo meds I was taking makes the vaccine less effective. So I've been having to act like I'm not even vaccinated.)

Is this a booster though? They didn’t mention that so maybe I missed it.

Couldn't is the contraction for "could not" which is what Jen said. If you're going to correct someone's grammar at least have an understanding of it yourself before you open your mouth. Chat Icon

My goodness your cognitive function must be really low. Do you understand that it is the unvaccinated that are allowing this virus to run rampant and spread? If the majority of people were vaccinated, the virus would no longer mutate, would no longer spread and we would be out of this nightmare. We are stuck here, with delta raging and people arguing about masks, because of YOU. It is the fault of the people who choose not to vaccinate themselves that we are still in this mess. People like me who are vaccinated still have to wear masks bc of people like YOU. I wear a mask indoors bc I am immunocompromised and I cannot trust that the unvaccinated will do the right thing and at the very least mask up. It’s such a small thing to do to protect the people around you. I wear a mask while fully vaccinated bc I could still possibly carry the virus because of people like YOU who are ALLOWING IT TO KEEP SPREADING. It wouldn’t spread anymore if most people were vaccinated and THEN we could unmask. Vaccinated people can’t walk around freely and without the fear of getting Covid because we are forced to coexist with people who won’t do their part to stop this thing from literally ruining life as we know it.

See, for you a decade of research and a year of administering this vaccine is a long time. For me, it is an extremely short amount of time. We each have our own opinions on the amount of time necessary to learn about something and it’s long term effects. That affects how we view things. That is our opinion.

As for Hofstra, I go after her only when she is attacking me or someone else. How you can not see how nasty she is is beyond me. And again, we are each entitled to our own opinions of her. And btw I was a stay at home mom for years. I have nothing against it so long as you don’t use all your free time to be nasty to internet strangers.

It’s a VIRUS. It will always mutate, despite a vaccine.

Look at the flu virus. We have had major breakouts despite having a vaccine. It happens. The thing is, we have treatments for Covid now. I know people who have gotten the plasma. Who have taken the mean orange man’s concoction that we don’t acknowledge. They all went in sick and walked out healthy rather quickly.

I do believe those at risk should be vaccinated. The vaccine does work in preventing those that would be VERY sick from getting that bad. But no reason for young healthy people to be vaccinated, or forced.

Couldn't is the contraction for "could not" which is what Jen said. If you're going to correct someone's grammar at least have an understanding of it yourself before you open your mouth. Chat Icon

Sad that is all you got out of that post.

Whoababy...chill.out.

If vaccinated people can still get sick because the vaccine is not 100%, then who is to say the vaccinated are not giving to the vaccinated? You quickly assume only unvaccinated people are getting sick and passing it along.

Do you only associate with vaccinated people? You have no family or friends whom you spend time with that are unvaccinated?

The vaccine is not the end all be all and many are not even getting the 2nd shot nor are interested in this 3rd booster.

So what happens then when you get less and less people who will get the next vaccines? Are you going to have a temper tantrum like you are doing here because you are not getting your way?

I have never said if I am vaccinated or not and all quickly assume and judge. I don't find it to be anyone's business and don't have to flaunt it in people's faces.

Yes most people ARE walking out of the hospital now after being treated, especially here in NY where the death rate (thank goodness) is very low. No one wants to talk about that.

They have been working on this for a decade. Couldn’t get it anywhere. Suddenly there is a MAN MADE virus that it can be used for and can fast track it and magically get it approved (soon). I’m sorry, but that makes me want to wait it out. That is why I don’t trust it. Personal OPINION, so I don’t expect everyone to agree.

Honestly, you are too misguided to even argue with. Just know, this is all on YOU and the people like you. it is your fault that this thing is spreading like it is. Thanks so much.

You didn't answer my question. Do YOU spend time with unvaccinated people? Do you attack them or ones you see out in public with no masks that you ASSUME are unvaccinated?

I think she said she wasn’t going to argue anymore with you.

BTW, it’s fewer and fewer people, not less and less.

Couldn’t resist and it’s all in good fun! Have a nice day!

Sad that is all you got out of that post.

I do not have a single solitary person in my life who is unvaccinated, except of course for the young children.

Wow, interesting. I don't think anyone can actually say that. I guess if you have a small family and set of friends and don't do much outside of being in public with a mask on.

You don’t think anyone can actually say that? I JUST SAID IT. Not all of us are as mentally limited as the rest of you

Exactly.. maybe Hazel should have said DIDN'T... but you can't get Hazel to understand or comprehend. No accountability. None.

Couldn't is the contraction for "could not" which is what Jen said. If you're going to correct someone's grammar at least have an understanding of it yourself before you open your mouth. Chat Icon

Sad that is all you got out of that post.

Really? I am sorry you sound like you are starting your day off on the wrong foot.

I just find it very hard to believe that anyone would not know ONE person that is unvaccinated that they spend any time with. I guess if you still hiding away then I can see, but for most, that is not true.

I find it odd that you incessantly whine how "everyone is mean to you" yet your replies to most people on here demonstrate over and over again what a nasty and condescending b!tch you are.

whobaby - Almost everyone I know is also vaccinated at this point. Certainly nobody is "hiding away" in their house as VB/windy/ HAZEL has convinced herself of. Don't even waste your breath on her, you'll get nowhere with her constant, repetitive, circular arguments of nonsense.
