Just because she doesn't make the choice to take time for herself, doesn't mean I won't be able

You said it right there. Think of all the women who continue to blow their hair out daily. That's a good 30-45 minutes, right? They make time for that, right? Or women who get manicures and pedicures weekly. That's about an hour. Or women who to iron sheets and socks. Yes, there are women out there that do that. They are finding the time to do that. Doesn't mean YOU have to do that.

I understand that with a baby, it takes time to find the groove. Everyone I talk to says that around 3-4 months, things fall into place. I can see it be longer for some moms and shorter for others. But if someone wants to do something and they want it badly, they sacrifice one thing for another.

ETA: I didn't get to finish b/c DH rushed me.

Okay, as I was saying, if you want to do something badly, you sacrifice something else. For some women, they sacrifice cleaning to exercise. I think that you also find ways to make things happen. In my babysitting days, this one mom told me that when she got pregnant, she got a treadmill b/c she knew she couldn't leave the house to go runnig when the baby slept. Instead, she brought the monitor into the room where the treadmill was and squeezed in a run. She found a way to make her workouts happen.

Who knows what priorities will shift around when one becomes a mom. But if you make it a priority now, I have a feeling that you will keep it a priority when you have a child, too. It probably won't be as high of one, but it will still be one.

For me, it was all about finding the motivation to get back to working out, not the time.

Right before DS was turning 1 I realized that I was really unhappy with my body, and in turn the example I was setting for him. I try to feed him healthy and eat healthier but excercise needs to be an important part of my life if I want him to see it as an important part of his life.

I don't work out every day, but I go to a kickboxing class a few nights a week if DH is home or my Mom is here to watch DS. I also do a DVD here at home. I take DS for walks and I play a lot with him to get my heartrate up. I still have a LONG way to go, but I feel better about myself and the example I set for him now.

I know it is not easy to make the time and find the motivation. When DS goes to sleep at night I want to crash. But I try to listen to that little voice in the back of my head telling me that I want to be a good role model.
