A couple of golf course questions -
So now I am thinking of getting DH a round of golf for him and a friend as a graduation present...
First of all...is this possible? And Second, where should I get it for? There are a bunch of golf courses here in Queens but I would like to get him the round at a really nice golf course. I was thinking Bethpage but does anyone know of any other nice public courses in Queens or Nassau.

I would say the Bethpage Black... it's a golfers paradise... I would call them up and see if it's possible to make a reservation and pay for it over the phone, I'm sure that you can.
My dad is a big golfer and the Bethpage Black is his mecca!

Bethpage Black is just a waiting game...I'm pretty sure there are no reservations unless you go midweek and the people get there at like 5 a.m. and start lining up.

I'm not that familiar with courses in Nassau, FIL golfs in Suffolk. But we buy him rounds of golf for gifts all the time. We always go to the course to purchase.

I don't think you can make reservations. My brother is a crazy golfer and he wakes up at 5AM to stand in line for a bracelet and a time slot. Then he heads home to pass out before going back to play

It is almost impossible to get a tee time at Bethpage Black.
I think a round of golf at any course will be appreciated by a golfer. Just make sure you buy the round and not a gift certificate to the proshop. Also, unless he likes walking, make sure a cart rental is included.

Re: A couple of golf course questions -
Thanks everybody...I remember Bethpage Black being difficult from an episode of Everybody Loves Raymond where Raymond and his brother get into a huge fight while waiting to play golf.
I'm either going to look into the ones in Queens or to see if Bethpage has another course.

Re: A couple of golf course questions -
There is also a red course at Bethpage that allows golf carts where as the black course you have to walk it
Good luck!

It's totally NOT impossible to get a tee time. You can book it through the automated system. the tee times become available to 1 week (maybe 6 days --I would call and ask) in advance. DH gets on the phone like he is trying to get concert tix but he has gotten thorough and played on the weekends. Of course, week days are easier to get and the later in the day the easier. The reason it is so hard is because people own the tee times so there is a very limited amount available. DH is out of towm but if we get to talk tonight I'll ask him exactly how it works and update this.
