A few questions about starting cereal

We started cereal today (DD will be 4 months on Wed. but my DH insisted on today. I hate breaking Dr.'s rules! LOL) So we did the one tablespoon of rice cereal and 4-5 tbsp of breastmilk like the box said. My question is, when do we increase? And when do we start fruits and veggies? Is that next month? TIA!
Oh, BTW, she loved it!

Have you been to the Dr. for a 4 month visit? They will probably give detailed insrtuctions. We were told to increase "as desired."

Not necessiarly, the ped saw DS at 11 weeks and then again at 5 months. While at the 11 week appointment he just said "start cereal at 4 months".

So, we did. We just increased as need be. Usually I'd make too much.

We did cereal for about 2 weeks (I think) and then did fruit, 3 days of each, then on to the next one.

Re: A few questions about starting cereal

ds is 5 months and we started about two weeks ago with oatmeal. we gave it for a week (not every day, but most days) and then moved on to rice. i'm not able to find barley anywhere, but i'm actually thinking of moving on to veggies this week, probably sweet potatoes Chat Icon

honestly, i always start out making a prescribed amount (like a tablespoon) but then i put in too much milk and have to add more cereal, etc. Chat Icon so i have no idea how much he is really taking and haven't increased much over the last couple weeks Chat Icon Chat Icon i just feed him until he shows me that he's full (he'll turn his head away and lose interest). when i start making my own baby food i'll have much better idea of quantity (e.g. one cube, etc).

I just let Parker guide me, he has been on cereal since 4 months, and I have introduced fruits and veggies over the past couple weeks. He loves it all, now doesn't love the bottle so much.
