A little concerned
I'm 11 weeks and I haven't gained a pound yet...... I shouldn't complain, I know. I lost a whole mess of weight in the beginning few weeks because I was SO sick and couldn't even look at food without gagging. Now, it's a little better but i'm force feeding myself because I feel like I'm not giving nutirition to the baby.. I have our 2nd OB appointment next tuesday. Do you think she'll be worried?

Re: A little concerned
Nope, I am sure they'll say it is normal. At my 16 week appointment I'd already lost 5 pounds. I was told since I am a larger girl and not stick thin, they wouldn't want me to gain too much anyway. But that's me.

Re: A little concerned
I wouldn't worry. My Dr. said since I am a little overweight they would prefer me to not gain too much weight.

Re: A little concerned
I hear you shouldn't gain too much weight in the beginning so I would say it's perfectly normal. You are only 2 weeks ahead of me and have the same problem. I have to force feed myself as well being the site or smell of food makes me gag.
If it makes you feel better definitely mention it to your OB but I'm sure your fine

Re: A little concerned
I wouldn't worry about it unless your doctor says there's reason to. Many of my friends/family didn't gain much until the 4th or 5th month.

Re: A little concerned
Don't worry one bit Laura. When I was 11w, I had lost 5 pounds. (most likely because I had stopped boozing)
I am 16w now and have only gained about 5 pounds above my original weight. Everyone is different, but as long as you are not starving yourself, smoking crack, etc., I am sure you and baby are fine.

Re: A little concerned
I'm 15 weeks and have only gained 2 lbs, and that's only because my MS is finally gone and I've been gorging myself that last 2 weeks.
At my 12 week visit I hadn't gained anything and my dr said that I was fine.
She actually said "Oh, how cute, you're still nice and skinny!", so I wouldn't be worried!

Re: A little concerned
Nope - nothing to worry about. I'm on the thin side and with both my pregnancies never gained a pound until the 5th month. It all catches up by week 40 - i promise!

Re: A little concerned
I read that because so many people have MS, its common not to gain any weight in the first trimester. If you do gain, they say it should be between 3 and 5, so thats not even a lot. I'm at 11 weeks today and have gained 2 pounds. But I didn't have MS.

Re: A little concerned
It's normal - I wish I could say the same (of course without the sick part):(
With first DS I really didn't gain a whole lot the first 4 months.....
It is common - some women even lose weight. I'm sure that the doctor can ease your mind and maybe answer any questions you might have. 11 weeks is still very early.

Re: A little concerned
Dont worry! I didnt gain more than 1 lb in my frist 13 weeks! My Dr told me it was no concern, she said if I am keeping my prentals down then the baby was getting all it needed. Plus that early the baby isnt taking nearly as much from the mother as you would think!
And Trust me evne with only 1 lb gained in my first 13 weeks, I have more than made up for it in the 20+ weeks since!!!

Re: A little concerned
My MD said she doesn't want moms gaining weight during the first few months.
I'm week 14, and I am actually 3 lbs lighter than pre-pregnancy (but I don't look it...I def. look bloated).

Re: A little concerned
don't worry about it. i am average weight-wise, and i was so sick that i lost 10lbs in the first tri. i didn't get back to pre-preg weight until about 18 weeks. only then did i start actually gaining. i ended up gaining 23-25 pounds total.
your body actually doesn't require extra calories to grow the baby until 2nd tri - and even then, the baby takes what it needs from you.
so eat what you can, don't force yourself - the baby will be fine!!

Re: A little concerned
No, she won't worry nor should you. Ihave a pregnancy disease that automaticlly you loose a ton of weight. I am a thin person to begin with and was worried that loosing 10+ pounds in a couple weeks would hurt me, but she said if I lost 25 and not gained there would be a problem. It's ok, you'll gain soon enough

Re: A little concerned
I am 16 weeks and have been very sick until this past week. I just began eating things other than toast and bagels. I have a small belly but I am still 4lbs less than prepreggo weight. I am not over-weight at all and did not have the weight to lose, but Dr. says it is okay because the baby takes what it needs.

I wouldn't worry. I lost weight my 1st Trimester and then only gained a little in the 2nd. I gained most of my weight in the 3rd Trimester.
