A little concerned
As most of you know I completed my first round of clomid a few weeks ago and today is cd1. This morning I was having a slight achy feeling near my ovaries and now I feel it a little more and I'm nauseous. I'm scared because I've been reading up on OHSS so I called the office and asked the nurse if it was possible to get OHSS 2 weeks post ovulation and she said no its probably just related to my cycle. I've never experienced this before and since this was my first time on clomid I'm making myself nervous. I'm trying to help myself have a baby not ruin my body! Did anyone else ever feel this way? Thanks ladies.
ETA: I'm already scheduled to see my RE tomorrow and have an ultrasound with him so I feel relieved abt that but just want to hear some opinions before then.

Re: A little concerned
Yes. It's possible you could have a cyst. Clomid have me cysts 2 different times. When you go in for cd3 blood and sono they'll see if that's the case. I highly doubt OHSS from a clomid dose. It's more the case for high doses of meds and hcg trigger with lots of follicles.
I know it can be quite overwhelming and I hope for your sake you get pregnant before this becomes second nature.

Re: A little concerned
I did have a trigger shot (ovidrel) and I had at least 4 follies there were 2 more potentials.
Ughh I hope I don't have cysts... This is so upsetting to me I've never had cysts (at least none that I knew of) I just don't want these meds to ruin my chances more. I hate taking meds as it is. Thanks I hope this happens sooner than later too!

Re: A little concerned
That's not a lot. Believe me. It's just the meds. You are fine. If you are concerned, drink some Gatorade. You'll be at the dr in 2 days

You should try and make the gtg next week. The girls here are very helpful and it's always a good time hanging with ppl who are going through it. Good chance to ask questions and laugh - a lot!!!

That would be nice I have to check my schedule and see if I'm working. Are you girls sure that you wouldn't mind having the neurotic newbie there? lol

Re: A little concerned
Def not OHSS. I've had over 20 follicles in all my retrievals and never it got it thank god. I do remember clomid making me feel yucky and crampy. It's probably that.

Re: A little concerned
I agree... I think you have the horrid clonus cysts that so many of us experience. Sometimes when you have multiple follicles, it can do a number on your ovaries. They may be enlarged a bit too. I once had a cycle that a follicle did not rupture and it kept my ovary enlarged until it dissolved. I hate clomid.

Can this cause permanent damage to your ovary or cause ovulation issues for the future? I've never had ovulation issues and really don't want to start now.

Your ovaries will be fine. I was on injectables and produced about 20 eggs, 3 times. For my 2 failed IVF cycles, my cycles went back to normal in 1-2 cycles.
It can take a while for your ovaries to go back to their normal size. At my 12 week appointment, my ovaries were still enlarged!

Re: A little concerned
It took mine a cycle to get back to normal. Don't worry, you will be fine. Your ovaries were working overtime so they need time to relax.

Re: A little concerned
So do you ladies usually take a month or two off in between treatments just to relax your bodies from all the meds? Just questioning whether or not I should jump into another cycle right away.

Re: A little concerned
If you have no cysts or lining issues, you jump right back in. No need to rest physically. But if you need a mental break, then take it

A little concerned
not ohss - its really rare to get it from clomid alone anyway. extremely unlikely unless you produced like 10 mature follies from clomid

Re: A little concerned
OHSS is rare and it's extremely rare to get it from Clomid - especially if you only had 2 (or even 4) follies.
I'm going to throw it out there that the symptoms you're experiencing could be part psychological. If this was your first medicated cycle, you may feel different, but it's unlikely that anything is wrong. I'd get off of Google and go drink a glass of wine while you still can!
I never took a month off between IUIs, but I did after my failed IVF to give my body a chance to get back to normal. But it's perfectly normal to take a month off to mentally just get back to your normal self again.
Good luck! IF sucks! But the miracle you get at the end of the journey is worth the wait!
