A Little Freaked Out...

Dh's company wasn't doing so well a few months ago. they did a decent sized round of lay offs but regardless, dh got a nice raise at his performance review at the same time. then the layoffs stopped and dh's raise kicked in. well yesterday they started again and today dh's boss pulls him into his office and says that they're about to lay off 1/2 the office, not to worry that dh isn't in the group and to ride it out. then said that he and two other guys who used to work at the company are in the midst of opening up a new one and want to take dh with them - same job, same salary etc. this whole thing just has me a bit freaked!!! scary.

That IS scary. How guaranteed is DH's position if he jumps ship? And say he does wind up getting laid off, is there a nice severance that he would be giving up and not guaranteed if the new company goes belly up in a few months? Also, would it burn a bridge at the company/industry he is involved with?
