A Q for LI IVF Ladies
When you decided to go for IVF, how long did it take to get going? I am trying to figure out a time frame for this summer. When do you start BCP? How are things timed with regard to AF? TIA.

I started very quickly... there is a lot you need to get done, so if you want to you can be fast or take your time with things. I ad to take provera to get af and then I started BCP's right away.

I'd love to know, too. Looks like I'll be heading in this direction shortly.
Once you get AF, can you start bc pills right away?

Re: A Q for LI IVF Ladies
I can only speak for myself but I had my first 'real' appointment w/ my records in hand a week ago yesterday. Luck (so far) has been on my side and we got the OK to start IVF on Monday- went to the orientation class Tuesday-saw the social worker tonight - already viewed the injection videos online and am waiting for my prescriptions to come so DH and I can get our bloodwork done. I spoke to one of the nurses today who told me in the next couple of days I'll be assigned a nurse and then we'll go in for bloodwork and to get my prescription for provera to bring on a bleed, and once that starts I'll be put on BCPs... but I don't know how long. They vary the # of weeks based off when they can fit you into an IVF cycle--- they said they cycle a bunch of ppl together (don't know how many) and then once all the retrievals/transfers/freeezing extra embryos is done they 'restock' (for lack of a better word) the lab--- which takes a few days before starting a new cycle... that's how I understood it anyway. HTH!

Re: A Q for LI IVF Ladies
I wish I could help you with that.. but for us since my dh needs tesa ect.. we were told ER date in April.. well now its June almost and i still havent gone.. I have cancled many plans so far, and put off my vacation plans unill i know.. I dont know how to plan this summer infact i told Karen who workd there that every week is another week that i have put on hold.. (friends are ready to shoot me; not beinga around) But i have to admit that they have been calling me all the time and Doctor Brenner has also called me to assure me that its a GO.. so i think that its pretty much as they plan... My advice is to ask Eva or Jennifer who ever your nurse is for an ER date and make sure that you tell them that you want to plan the summer etc.. it worked for me.. I gave up being 100% easy going..now i kinda need to know...
Good Luck... It does go fast when they acually start thu... i feel like i live there already.. scary...

Re: A Q for LI IVF Ladies
Well there are a lot of things to get done before your stim cycle but it goes really fast once you start.
Once I started (after the initial interview and blood tests) I was on BCPs for 21 days (this was the part that dragged the most). During that time, we saw the social worker, I had my water sono and endometrial biopsy and interview/injection teaching.
3 day after I finished the BCP I started stimming. I stimmed for 7 days total, and went for morning monitoring 5 days out of that. I triggered, and had my egg retrieval 3 days later (today) and will have retrieval on Saturday. So, all totalled (not counting the upcoming 2 ww) the cycle took me exactly 5 weeks. Once you start stimming, I think the time just flies. After transfer you are on meds until your pg test...that's about 2 weeks later.
I think they were really quick about it all once you decide to get going! Good Luck!!
