A question for Verizon Wireless customers.

I'm wondering if what I'm experiencing is due to my phone or the Verizon Wireless service itself. Whenever I text someone that uses a different service (AT&T, T-Mobile) I am only allowed to text them 160 characters. Anything over that gets cut off and never gets sent. On the other hand, when my friends who use other services text me over 160 characters, I get the entire text, just on multiple messages. How come my messages cut off after 160 characters? Does this happen to everyone with Verizon, or is it just my phone? TIA!

It happens to everyone, I think. Just write the 160 characters, then send then continue... that is what I do

I've had Verizon for a long time and also used to work for them (though it's been a while). I'm pretty sure it's something with your phone.
Bring it into the store and ask them about it.

It should just come in two separate messages...

Nope... I have the same thing...

I get back some type of error message saying that only 160 characters or my message can be sent. Anything else is lost.

It sounds like it is the service itself and not your phone. I know with Sprint it is the same thing... you can only type 160 characters. Yet with a Nextel phone you can type 500 characters in a text. It all depends on the carrier.

Not sure the # limit, but I know my blackberry pearl has a limit.

DH can type stories on his iPhone with AT&T.

It's completely normal you're not allowed to send multi-page texts to people on other networks but you can go on and on to other people on verizon.

Nope, happens to me too. I rarely need to text over my limit though and when I do, it just sends as a second text. It's not just for outside the network carriers thought, it happens to anyone I text in the verizon network too.
