Abnormal AFP
I had my AFP done at 15w3d. The results were abnormally high (4) I had it redrawn at 17w3d and that result was also high although lower the original (3)
I have my level 2 sonogram next week. I'm freaking out though . This is my 3rd baby and I didn't have this issue with my first 2. I've been told the rate of error is high for this test but I'm still really concerned.
Anyone have any experience with this? TIA!

Re: Abnormal AFP
With DS2, I had low PAPP-A and hcg at my first trimester screening. Then, my AFP testing was slightly above the normal range. My doctor said the results are usually significantly above the normal range when it's actually spins Buford's. Both of my tests were indications of possible growth issues. I had an early Level 2 with MFM and everything looked good. I then had sonos every 4 weeks with MFM to monitor the growth and weekly MSTs and sonos with my OB starting at 32 weeks. DS2 was born perfectly healthy and at a normal weight/length. Good luck! I hope everything turns out ok.

Thank you for sharing! How early was your level 2? My doctor moved mine up so I'm going tomorrow. I'll be 18w4d...I'm just hoping that's not to early to get a good view.

Re: Abnormal AFP
I am so sorry you have to deal with this. Yes I had this exact thing happen to me with my second baby. Abnormally high AFP. It was horrible but he was born completely normal in the end. I will FM you later after my kids go to bed.

I was either 16.5 or 17.5 weeks. I forget because it was 5 years ago, but they were able to see everything. I think MFM had a higher tech machine than my OB so it wasn't an issue.

Re: Abnormal AFP
I had elevated AFP levels. They sent me to a geneticist but I didn't have any further testing (i.e. Amino, etc). My sonos never indicated any signs of NTDs & they made me go for sonos regularly. They also didn't want me going too much past my DD so I was induced the day after my DD. Everything went smoothly and my daughter is perfect.
