1 pack of 40 and then moved onto the size 1s. Anthony was 8.5 at birth

You will be surprised how many you will go through. DD was 7 pounds 12 oz. and we went through at least 200. They poop and pee a lot when they are BF and even if you FF, they wet and poop more diapers at that stage. My hospital also started DD in size 1, but we used up our NB. They are so cute and tiny.

Halfway through my third box of Huggies (84 diapers per box?) and I think I used a 60 pack of Swaddlers as well.

Ann is still just 7lbs 2oz (6lbs 3oz at birth but down to 5lbs 13oz when we were discharged) at almost 4 weeks ... the hospital had her in size 1 and sent us home with them but they just seem so huge to me. Even in Newborn size the velcro tabs meet in the middle.

Same for us! DS was 7lbs, 11oz and wore newborn for quite a while. Size 1 diapers where way to big. You go through at least 10-14 diapers a day.

with my first 2 kids(born at 8 lbs 6 ozs and 8 lbs 7 ozs) I used 1 pack of newborn diapers each.

with my 3rd baby (born at 9 lbs 3.7 ozs) I never used any, she went straight to size 1's.

0.

DD went straight into size 1.

I would suggest exchanging some of them for size 1 and keeping maybe 1 or 2 packs of the newborn size.

If your DC is big like mine was (9lbs, 2oz), you can send your DH to exchange the rest of the newborn diapers after you give birth.

I think it's going to be hard to predict if you'll need them or not until DC is born. My DD was 8lb 11oz at birth and the hospital used size 1 on her. I used 1 pack of NB diapers when we got home just because I had them and wanted to use them up and because they had a notch for the umbilicial cord. After they were finished I used the size 1 and just folded down for the cord area.

Doc told me I'd have a 7 1/2, I had a 6 1/2. baby.

He was very long and thin - wore premie until he was 7-8 weeks old. We used them for a while.

So - I wouldn't go by what the sono said - I'd wait until after you have the baby.

My DD was 6lbs 8oz at birth. She has been wearing NB diapers for a while. She is now 8lbs 6oz and is still wearing NB diapers and clothes. We've been through 3 cases of NB diapers and a 3 tier diaper cake. I tried size 1 on her about a week ago and they were HUGE so I went out and bought more NB diapers. If they say your baby will be a peanut I wouldn't be so quick to return NB diapers.
