? about timed intercourse with trigger shot

I'm looking through the information I got at the RE practice. My doctor explained that the trigger shot can be given once my follicles are mature enough for ovulation. He said I would have timed intercourse that day and the next 2 days.

I typically surge on day 11. I'm trying to understand how the trigger shot with timed intercourse will lead to better success than using OPKs and temping. If I surge on day 11 and ovulate on day 13, then I'm not really a late ovulator right?

I have so many more questions for him the next time I see him but I just wanted to get more info now.

what the trigger does is it allows you to know the exact window (usually 12-36 hours from injection) for when you are most fertile.

I usually trigger in the evening (lets say a Friday) and then do an IUI 2 mornings later (Sunday morning). DH and I usually the night we trigger, skip the next night, IUI the following morning then the next two days just to cover our butts!

But don't ovulation kits help predict your window? And does the trigger shot increase your chances of multiples?

The trigger shot should not increase your chances for multiples - the trigger shot just ensures that any mature follies will be release within 24-36 hours (for most women) so that the timing for IUI or BD will be optimal. When u are using OPK they dont ensure that you are ovulating they just give you an idea that you are surging and likely will ovulate. At least this is how my Dr explained it to me....I tend to have folllies that get too big before my natural LH surge so he triggered me when they were about 20-22mm....hope this info help! Good Luck!
