According to the NYPD, I have ROAD RAGE

This morning on the way to work, I was nearly cut off by a man who was pulling away from the curb in a Jeep. I honked my horn to stop him from hitting me but he cut me off anyway. Me, like an idiot, flips him the bird, (WHICH YOU SHOULD NEVER DO and I don't know why I did) and did so in front of a cop who had someone ELSE pulled over. The cop motions for me to pull over and checks my info. He then asks me if I knew what "road rage" was. He said I was justified in honking my horn because the guy nearly hit me but telling him to "expletive off" was not too bright. I actually agreed. I told him I was driving a new car and was trying to protect it. He understood. I do work in a neighborhood that is not known to be very safe. Had I given the finger to someone carrying a weapon, or someone who wasn't wrapped very tight, I could have put myself and my passenger in danger. I was able to go withour penalty, but I thought I would let you all know to be very careful. Can you tell I cannot wait for vacation?

Don't worry, I was doing 50 on the LIE service road - and now I need to pay 125.00 a year for 3 years to keep my license. Because I'm not a RESPONSIBLE driver.

Puhleeze, what about the @ssholes that are doing 90 and weaving in and out of traffic.

You were driving defensively and that's right but the flipping of the bird is wrong (especially in front of a cop!) He didn't need to pull you over though. You are not a high risk driver and he was just making a point.

BTW-I would have done the same thing and I'm not an overly aggresive driver.

OMG Leslie! See, this is where NYPD need to stop the road rage from happening by pulling over the OTHER car, not the victim in this!

I honestly thought I was getting pulled over for using my horn. I actually do understand that my action of giving the finger, in the area where I work (or anywhere else) is flat out stupid. People get shot and killed in this neighborhood all too often - I see reports in the paper and on TV about crimes committed blocks away from where I work. All I needed was to pi$$ off the wrong person and it could have been a bad scene. I just think it is hilarious to think I am soooo angry. Maybe i should go to anger management classes.

OMG!! Glad you're safe!! I flip the bird all of the time..just haven't gotten caught yet..you just had bad timing..

If you have road rage, then I can only imagine what they would consider what my DH has. That is tame to what he does sometimes. I hate it when he gets 'road rage'.

I know I have a serious case of road rage but I'm always afraid of the psychos out there so I've never actually flipped anyone the bird while driving. I'm always yelling at DH for taunting people while I'm in the car because I'm afraid that one day some nutjob will pull out a gun.
