ACK..I think my EBF DD won't take a bottle!
OMG, what do I do??? She DID in the very beginning but now, it seems she doesn't want it! Could it be because I was the one trying to give it to her?
DH tried to give her a bottle 2 weeks ago and she gave him quite a fight and only took about 2 oz.
I was REALLY looking forward to getting a few dates in with DH while my mom is visiting.

DS wouldn't either. But he wouldn't take him from DH, until DH started holding the bottle near his own nipple. DS never took any bottles from me for the first 6 months at least.
From others, he usually ate from the bottles.

You just have to keep trying. DD did the same thing to me. I was just persistant about it because I was going back to work and she HAD to get used to it. A lot of crying, but she eventually took it.

My dd will not take a bottle. We just try to space out her feedings to at least 3 hours and I rush home from wherever I am. I did read that you can try a sippy cup and we are planning on trying that.

I tried so many bottles and time that I just gave up. I also introduced to late I think (around 3 or 4 months). So I EBF for 11 months. What if you feed her before you leave and the when you come home? How long are her streches?

Re: ACK..I think my EBF DD won't take a bottle!
This happened to me as well. She FINALLY started to take it around 5 months with the ADIRI bottle. But then we got to the point where she would only take it from me so that left me at square one But I had to abruptly wean her at 8 months because I couldn't take it anymore and she was fine. It's really hard but you'll get through it. whatever works for you. Everybody told me (including the pediatrician) when she gets hungry enough, she'll take the bottle.

my DD never took the bottle. she refused and we tried everything...trust me. She went straight from breast to cup. When I had my son in November, I made sure I introduced bottle w/the breast.
good luck. i feel your pain.

Re: ACK..I think my EBF DD won't take a bottle!
This happened to us too DS was fine early on but once I went a long period without bottles and tried to give him one at 6.5/7 mos (i think it was) he refused. It literally took almost a whole month to get him to drink a whole bottle. It helped to make sure he was very hungry before feeding him - make sure the bottle is nice and warm and hold him close like BF. But, really, only time worked completely...good luck!

Re: ACK..I think my EBF DD won't take a bottle!
DH was the only one that was ever really successful at giving DD a bottle. We found out that it was mainly because the milk in the bottle had to be the same temp as if I was BF so appr. 98.6. Anyone else that gave her a bottle (including me) were too nervous about heating it up that warm but that's the way she liked it.

Ryan won't take it from me. And puts up a small fight with DH. But, once he realizes what it is, he takes it.
Keep trying. Or possibly try a different type of bottle. We use Playtex drop ins.
