adding new foods (at almost 8 months)
When did you start your baby on yogurt? What kind do you use? Also, when did you start your baby on meats? How did you prepare them?
Lastly, what is the deal with strawberries? I keep reading that they shouldn't be given before a year. But my ped said it was okay and DD has had them for a month already. Is there some reaction she could develop later on from them?

Re: adding new foods (at almost 8 months)
I haven't started DS (he is 6 months) on yogurt yet, but my Pedi said I could start around 7-8 months. I plan on using YoBaby.
As for meats, the Dr said I could start at 7 months, once DS has tried all his veggies.
As for strawberries, my pedi said the same as yours. I make my own food, but I noticed Gerber Organic has strawberry & apple Stage 2. My DS just had strawberries the other day for the first time and seemed to love them. No allergic reaction. So if your DD is ok, I wouldn't worry about it.

Re: adding new foods (at almost 8 months)
Oh I forgot to say about cooking meats....the Dr said to prepare them the same way I would for us - bake, broil, pouch, etc. just don't add a lot of seasoning. There are some good websites for making your own, I plan on checking them out. The idea of the jarred meats grosses me out.

Re: adding new foods (at almost 8 months)
Thanks for the responses. I guess since she seems fine with the strawberries I am going to leave it alone. Also, I am going to start meats and yogurt this week. I just bought yobaby...I am going to try chicken and turkey first. (baked then pureed).

we started yogurt also at around 8 months but are waiting on berries till he is a 1 yrs. He did have blueberries though and did OK-some people thin they aren't likely to cause an allergy as the other berries

Re: adding new foods (at almost 8 months)
I started DD on Yobaby about 7.5 months...now she's almost 9 months and we've introduced chicken and turkey (in baby food). I've given her bananas, and the diced apples and peaches from Gerber - she likes them...
I am so leary to introduce new things as she still has some digestive issues (she's still on Alimentum), but she does well with the yogurt, as long as I only do it a few times a week...and everything else, she's been great with!
I might try blueberries next month, and watermelon. I think I am going to wait until 1 to start strawberries...

I must live in a vacuum, so I'm glad for this post. I had no idea that I could be trying these foods with Hannah! I'm going to check with her ped first, but I thought I was being adventurous with the fruits and veggies!
