Advice needed--Flying with placenta previa

Hi all,

At my 16 and 20 week appointments I was diagnosed with complete placenta previa. I am supposed to go on my babymoon from Aug 23-31 in Curacao. The doctor said this should be fine, just be sure to stay hydrated and walk around on the flight. Should I be at all nervous about going? I haven't had any bleeding this entire pregnancy. I also made an appointment for 2 days before I leave to make sure everything is ok and there are no signs of trouble. If all is fine at that appmt, except for the previa, would you go?

TIA!!

well I wish you luck but it is still early I had a partial and it has moved away but there is a chance still that it could move up before you leave right??

I wouldn't have a clue.... but if your Dr. said it's ok, it seems to be ok. If you want a second opinion, what about asking another physician at the same OB practice?

Yeah, but it seems less likely now. They were very hopeful that it would move at my 16 week appointment, but seemed less hopeful at 20 weeks when it was still there. The next appointment to check was supposed to be 28 weeks, but I will be flying at 25 1/2 weeks, so I asked if I could come in before to check if it moved and they said yes.

Do you know about which week yours moved?

The 20 week appointment was with a different doctor than my usual, but the appointment I made for right before I leave is with my usual. So, I will definitely get a second opinion, but that's going to be right before we leave.

If it were me, I'd call the physician you're going to have an appt with today, and ask them today if possible. That way you can adjust your plans accordingly....

Re: Advice needed--Flying with placenta previa

I too have a full previa. I am currently 25 weeks and was instructed to cancel my babymoon which was schedule for Aug 8th (at which point I would be almost 28 weeks).

I do not mean to be a downer or to scare you, but I have just been informed that I will be on strict bedrest as of the 28th week. It seems that the chances of a full previa moving is not very high.

Feel free to FM me for additional details or if you have any questions etc.
