Placenta Previa

Is anybody here in there late stages of the second trimester been diagnosed with placenta previa? After my 20 week sono I was told that I have a low lying placenta (Placenta previa).I have to go back at 32 weeks to see if it moved up,until then the DR put me on complete pelvic rest.I was just wondering if someone else has this or had it and how it turned out....Im a little worried that if it doesnt move up there will be a lot of bleeding, and I might have a C-section.

I was also told at my level II that I had it. Mine did move around week 28 or 30 I don't remember.

My friend had it as well - her's moved a little later on, but it did move.

Take it easy - no lifting, no s e x, no exercise, etc.Chat Icon

Re: Placenta Previa

I had it and mine moved around 27 or 28 weeks. I did have to have a c-section but not because of the placenta previa.

Definetly no lifting, no s e x, take it easy!

Re: Placenta Previa

Do you have a Low lying placenta or Previa? Previa is when the placenta covers the cervix, low lying is when it is near the cervix. I had low lying with Emma at 20 weeks and by 32 weeks it was "plenty far eough away" for a vaginal birth.

I was diagnosed with partial previa at 20 weeks. It moved on its own by 28 weeks.

Re: Placenta Previa

My SIL was diagnosed with placenta previa with her last pregnancy. My nephew is now 3 and perfect. She did have a couple of bleeding episodes and ended up in the hospital on bed rest for the last 6 weeks of her pregnancy. She was told she probably had one of the most severe cases. She delivered by c-section.

Re: Placenta Previa

I was told I had placenta previa very early in my pregnancy. I am now 20 weeks and still have it. However, my doctor had taken me out of work for the duration of my pregnancy (bed rest). So be very careful.

Every pregnancy is different, but sometimes bed rest is necessary. I just talked to my Dr again to ask her what she thought & since I have a desk job 7 no longer work in manhattan with a long & difficult commute, she told me that working for now is OK. Of course that can change if bleeding becomes present.

Of course the most important thing is to make sure you have an open line of communication with you Dr about any condition, but it is nice to see that a lot of other girls have had similar experiences with good outcomes.Chat Icon
