Tx for the idea - will look into that. Although I feel a bit guilty doing that since Colin has a milk allergy and can't participate

Re: affordable 3rd birthday locations?? (under $500)
Wantagh Lanes does bumper bowling parties which are fun.
Seaford Cinemas, DS went to one there last month and can't stop talking about having his there.
We had DD's at Paint Me A Picture in Bellmore last year.
We went to one at Cool Crafts on Hempstead Tpke in Levittown over the break that was cute.
Kids always love the parties at All American Gymnastics on Merrick Rd in Bellmore

white post farms does a really nice party and it is great for a lot of ages
wayyyyyy more than $500 with all of the food for adults and taxes and tips. Like double that...
I had planned on doing this before I came up with the swingset idea. For a group of 20 kids - you're def looking at $750 range.

Thank you for this post! I'm going to need it soon!
Has anyone (Wantagh area) been to a party at the Hip Hop Sweet Shop by Grandma's Candy Kitchen? Just wondering what that is like? Maybe that would work for your son? (sorry to hijack)

DD went to a party there once, I think it was about 2 years ago? The kids REALLY liked it, tons of candy and they liked decorating the chocolate castles with candy. There was cotton candy, ice cream, dancing. The parents were not as thrilled with all the candy

That's what I was thinking - that I would have some enemies after it.
My little sister was there recently for a party and enjoyed it, but she has bad teeth so my mom wasn't thrilled.

Gymboree parties are great. We spent 275 for the venue --- and then ordered food. Pizza and chips along with cake are more than enough. You can definately do it for under 500

Re: affordable 3rd birthday locations?? (under $500)
I am not sure if the Hicksville location does it, but the Deer Park NYSC does birthday parties. I don't remember exact rates, but I remember thinking that they were pretty reasonable.
link
Also, not sure if it is too far, but the Elwood Movie theater does parties - up to 30 kids I want to say is around $350 (3d movies are a little bit more). It includes soda and popcorn and you can bring in bagels (which I would recommend) or pizza.

Chuck E. Cheese
$15.99 per kid. Honestly, I do think it includes the most for the money.
Even if you had 20 kids, its under $400. 10 kids, under $200. Etc.

Re: affordable 3rd birthday locations?? (under $500)
I'm having my DD's at Adventureland in April. Her bday is at the end of March, but thought being that this venue depends on the weather we have to push it off 2 weeks. My DD has been insistent of having her birthday party there and going on rides. I was really happy with the price. 18.95 per kid. Includes 1 hr of rides, 1 hr of eating lunch (pizza, hot dog etc) and cake. You supply favors and cake. It also comes with 2 bracelets for adults to ride.

Re: affordable 3rd birthday locations?? (under $500)
We had our son's 5th bday party at Alley Pond
It was so much fun and the kids got to learn about different animals. It was $200 for 15 kids. I would say I spent about $500 including food, plates, drinks, decor and favors.

Re: affordable 3rd birthday locations?? (under $500)
Chuck E Cheese was not very $$ at all, and if you can do it during the week it isn't crowded either.
Le PLay Cafe in Bellmore is very reasonable too.
Also you can look into that arts & crafts place in Wantagh on Merrick Rd., I forget the name.
McD's is pretty cheap. Also we went to Birger King on Wantagh Ave the other day and A loved the play area - they probably do parties too.
ETA- Wantagh Bowling Alley is pretty inexpensive too!!
