After School activities

My DS is PDD/NOS and will be 4 in March. We are looking for an after school activity for him. His NT twin sister is going to start gymnastics soon. I find that most places at this age don't have parent participation. That's great for her, but he would need me to help redirect. He's also not potty trained yet (pull-ups still). I don't know if there are any programs out there that work with kids with special needs. I think he would benefit from being in a program with typical peers.

If anyone has or had their DC in a program in Suffolk County that they could recommend, please let me know. I appreciate any information you can give.

TIA

Re: After School activities

They may vary, but the Little Gym near us allowed a parent to walk her son through the class (for 3-5 year olds). We didn't stick with it ourselves because my son decided he wanted no more classes, and started crying when he went--he didn't even want me in there with him.

But you could ask about this if there is one near you--I know the management varies so what goes at one location may not at every location.

I think if you explain the situation most gyms / play places will allow you or a therapist to help guide your child.
