After school activities for Kindergarteners?
How many, and what? I want DD to be in dance and gymnastics. I also would like her to take piano lessons, and have to sign her up for religion.
Now, I know that is too much, but how do you decide which to do? Religion is a definite. Piano, she keeps asking to do. Dance and gymnastics, she has done each for a year and enjoyed both.
Oh, and if you know...do I need my own piano if she decides to take lessons? Can we just start out with an electric keyboard or something?

Re: After school activities for Kindergarteners?
In K my dd had Girl Scouts every other week, an art class 1x per week, and therapy every other week.
This year my ds will have a multi-sport class at Sporttime 1x per week, art 1x per week, and then he has to tag along at dd's girl scout meetings and therapy appointments. He might do soccer on the weekend, he keeps changing his mind about it.
Religious ed at the 2 churches in my area starts in first grade.
As far as gymnastics vs. dance, can she do one in the fall and the other in the spring?

You can just use a keyboard for practicing on. We used one for 3 years before moving to a full piano (eventually they need the piano for the full set of keys but certainly not beginner piano.)

Re: After school activities for Kindergarteners?
I am trying to limit it to 2. (unless there is an activity that you are requiring, like religion, than that doesn't count)
#1 does gymnastics, legos and Spanish (but I am not including the Spanish in his 2 - he wants to go, but it's something he needs to learn for family reasons)
#2 will start gymnastics and swim class.

Re: After school activities for Kindergarteners?
DD has a lot going on this fall. She has been involved with most of it since she was 2, so I hate having to limit her. I know she is going to get very tired, but I want her to tell me no. Once November comes, then life will go back to normal. She will have dance, cheerleading and soccer.

I'm limiting him to 1 thing at a time, 2 at most. He just started football, it ends at the end of September, then he will start swimming.

right now she is just signed up for one thing - dance. I think I would personally limit her to 2. I dont want her getting overhwlemed.

Re: After school activities for Kindergarteners?
We keep it to 2 things but might add boy scouts to it. They do karate all year and then baseball in the spring and football in the fall for now. We did soccer but stopped that since they weren't fans of it and wanted to do baseball.
