Age 2...
Any advice for surviving? My 2 year old twins are acting like animals lately, literally and I can't take it. One was so mad they put a hole in my wall with the front door and there's a door stopper there and then they just don't listen and their behavior is becoming unsafe. Aside from putting them in a playpen for every transition I don't know what else I do and even that they fight, bite each other and can jump out of. I'm at my whits end. I work as a behavior analyst and have never seen such aggression, rage and lack of empathy from a child. I'm at the point of seeking another professionals help with them because I can't take it...
To add, for just turning 2 they do have very advanced language skills and can communicate in full sentences. I also keep them busy through the day, activities, walks, arts/ crafts and they nap 2 hours mid day and for the most part sleep 8:30-6:30 daily...

Re: Age 2...
Children don't generally have lots of empathy at that age. They are little cave people lol. Hang in there!

Re: Age 2...
How do you react to the aggression and destructive behavior- what is the consequence?
My daughter is about the same age, and time out has really helped her curb her troublesome behavior. And of course, you know that it’s normal for two year olds to act like little beasts and not have great empathy for others!

I'm suggesting more of a separation class. Is the 2s class drop off? Sometimes being away from mommy is helpful. Case in point...this morning my daughter was a nightmare, screaming and throwing a tantrum and crying. Got her to daycare and she was an angel.

Re: Age 2...
I'm with you. I feel like I have a literal beast. aggressive, insistent, persistent, cave like, stubborn. I have never seen anything so awful in behavior, so worried it's never going to improve. I won't even attempt time out because I don't think I will succeed! No advice, just consolation.

Age 2...
I remember how age 21-24mos was like the most perfect time ever. On her second birthday my DD woke up with an attitude and literally turned into a dcik overnight! It totally passes. I used to try to just tire her out. Long walks. And a little trampoline and I’d just encourage her to jump jump till she passed out hahaha.

Re: Age 2...
My 2 yo DS is a total a-hole. Every day. I don't know what happened to him. He was the fattest, happiest, sweetest baby. Now he is a miserable prick. Yes, I'm actually talking about my toddler like that. LOL
He's my third. In my experience, every phase lasts about 3-4 months. We just have to get through it. I'm on month 4 of him being a jerk. I'm hoping he is wrapping it up. I am seeing a light at the end of the tunnel. He has started waving at strangers and smiling again.

what kinds of jerky things does he do? My toddler I keep saying is a jerk too but sometimes I wonder if those things are normal.
