aggrevated! over insurance-- empire and Hip
My DH's work may change the health insurance from Empire (which i love) to HIP (which i am not fond of for certain reasons)
Does anyone have HIP and are they happy with them? Should i be concerned? I would rather go back to my job and keep empire than go with HIP I am so confused.. Do i need referalls ect? with HIP?
Help
TIA

I'm not sure of your husband's coverage but I would much rather stick with my empire plan than ever deal with the refferals & run-around with HIP. Call & find out everything you can about his plan. If you have no choice, than just make the most of it by finding a dr that you really like

My DH has HIP and he loves it. However, he is a man. j/k His particular HIP plan doesn't require referals at all and seems to have quite a few good features, enough that I'm considering putting the baby on his insurance after birth rather than mine.

Re: aggrevated! over insurance-- empire and Hip
HIP is probably okay if you don't need to see doctors much at all, but I had it a number of years ago and hated it! The waits during office visits were extremely long, at least an hour, sometimes longer, and it was hard to to get appts.
Plus they had a ridiculous system for getting referrals. You had to go see a the primary doctor and get a referral from them. Then you had to visit another office to make an appt. with a specialist (in my case this office was in another building in another part of town), and they would NOT push to get you in early if it was an emergency. I had to go back and forth once between my primary and the specialist before I could get an appt. moved up. It was a nightmare. This was HIP in Brooklyn, and it was several years ago, but my experience with them was not good. The doctors were extremely rushed also, and turnover seemed high, at least out here.
If you can stay with Empire, stay with them. I have Empire now and love it.

Re: aggrevated! over insurance-- empire and Hip
DH has HIP and I have Empire. We end up with the same doctors. He has less of a co-pay and he needs referals. Other than that, our plans are pretty much the same. (I'm sure there are all different levels of the plans, so I'm not much help there.)

YEAH I want in the worst way to stay with Empire.. BUT his boss may be paying for me dh and the baby so i shouldnt complain but i see more than just an OBGYN i see a neurologist also. so i am a bit annoyed.. oh well what it is it is i am sure but i hate switching as i like all my drs and HATE the fact that i need referrals everytime I go
I had Vytra in the past and it was horrible bc of the referrals..
