Agonizing crying at bedtime
Is this teething or something else?
My 8 month old DS just got his 1 st tooth 2 weeks ago and his 2nd broke through this weekend. For the last 2 nights, he has cried a horrible, painful cry after being put to bed (he's relatively easy to out to bed, falls asleep quickly).
The cry is heart-wrenching, I almost cried tonight. I've never heard him cry like that. Tonight i put him down, he rolled around a bit and within 4 minutes started crying. The crying just intensified after I went up there. I held him tight in my arms and the crying was so bad, he just wouldn't stop. It seemed to come from deep inside. He finally calmed down and sucked on his pacifier furiously (he rarely takes a paci anymore) and fell asleep in my arms.
What could be going on?
Is teething worse at bedtime/night? Does drinking from a bottle bother his gums (he was making weird mouth sounds after his bottle)?
Feeling so bad for my little guy.

Re: Agonizing crying at bedtime
it could be night terrors, maybe??? em has it sometimes... from what i've read - it happens most when the baby is overtired - half the brain says sleep and the other half says wake & play - so the body is confused...hence night terrors...
i'm so sorry you are going through this. the few times em has had them - the screams shortened my life-span - i'm SURE of it!

Re: Agonizing crying at bedtime
At my recent 9 months appointment our ped told me that this is when separation anxiety could begin and babies can be extra sensitive at bedtime. I hope your little guy gets better
