airplane travel w/ 4 month old
I've searched previous posts but haven't found the info I need to calm DH down about our trip to Orlando this summer with DD who will about about 4 months old.
We have the Graco Snugride system ( infant carrier, carseat base, Metrolite stroller)
Can we bring all that to the plane and gate check them? Or is it just umbrella stroller they let you gate check.
What do we do for the rental car- bring the base and secure it ourselves? What do we do with the base in the airport?
We're not sure about bringing our PNP b/c we are worried about it getting lost or broken. Thoughts from those who have done it before with an infant? Thanks!

I have traveled a lot with my kids at all different ages. You can check in your car seat and stroller (s) at the gate. The base you can keep together with the car seat. For the car rental you can either rent a car seat and not take yours since you're checking it in or not take the base. you can strap your infant carrier in without a base. As for the PNP, nt sure where you are staying but if it's a hotel you can request one or a crib and can just bring the crib sheet or PNP sheet to feel more comfortable.
It'll be fine. have fun.

How did you get to the airport? We usually get car service but don't see how we can secure the car seat in the back for a 20 min drive.

Re: airplane travel w/ 4 month old
We travelled with DD at 11 weeks, 5 months, 6 months, 7 months and 10 months.
We brought the Graco Snugride on the plane almost every time. Once it was full and we couldn't so we gate checked it. Make sure to put it in a bag - they throw them around and they get wet and dirty. We gate checked the stroller. One time we gate checked the base attached to the car seat and they broke it! From that point on, we put the base in our checked luggage.
For the 10 month trip, DD was in the convertible carseat. We bought a bag to check it with the luggage.

You can use the seatbelt to secure the carseat. Also, most cars have a LATCH system.

Re: airplane travel w/ 4 month old
We gate-checked everything. You just click the carseat into the base right before you board...we had the Pliko3 stroller and Peg Perego seat where you need the base, so leaving it wasn't an option.
It was PERFECT for us....I wouldn't even worry about it
ETA: bring pillows and blankets for a PNP if you can't bring it and need to get one at the hotel or somewhere else. We didn't bring one, it's just too much with all of the other stuff that comes with a 4 month old. I just covered the entire thing in a bunch of blankets and we were fine.
