AJ's ENT visit, Dentist visit Speech Eval (busy two days)
ENT
Hearing test was a pass yeah Tubes are still in and looking good. She's got a bit of a cold so he gave me a non-refridge antibiotic to fill and take with us on our trip, plus eye drops and ear drops He is awesome but 10min visit doesn't make up for the 2hr wait.
Dentist
Regular dentist, tho we have tons of pediatric dentist around. She did GREAT no issue at all to counting her teeth. Still needs her top two molars, her bottom teeth are a tad crowded and she has overlapping bite (her front teeth nearly cover up her bottom when she closes her jaw) but then again I had both those problems too when I was little. Dentist isn't the slightest bit worried
WAS SURPRISED that AJ had a paci to 18m and bottle night until 2yrs old.
So there!
Speech Eval
So she's not an active speaker but apparently at 25m she excels at other things like eye and hand coordination, counting (like literally one block, two, three, etc) Identifying groups of "Two blocks or three", matching, sorting and reasoning.
To me they are all natural and I never give it much thought, but apparently her cognitive skills and other developmental qualities were WELL above her age group.
Speech tho, she has over 50 words. Uses plural properly, uses questions properly, uses 'ing' correctly. She was noted to have very clear and outstanding enunciation. To which my hubby just rolled his eyes at me * speak 'funny' to most so I think I'm rubbing off on her.
But she did not qualify for the services.
What was interesting was that my concerns were sound and they totally understood, but they said I needed to understand her development is at her own speed not that of her peers. She's in the proper range of 20-36 months. Other classmates had speech in the 28-40 months stage but they ARE 28 mo or older, shes only 25m (one of the youngest in her class). So it seems she's behind but she's not.
I can not BELIEVE I forgot what's its like to be the youngest class mate. My birthday and hers are days from each other. I started school "early" and was actually 16 when I started my Senior year. I was that kid. One of 'the young ones'. I should know better!
Its always nice when they say AJ is far exceeding all other peers in every other capacity and that lack of speech is her way of concentrating.
So good few days all and all
Thanks for reading!

Awesome news and KUDOS to you for getting an eval. It can be very hard for parents to take that step.
