All of a sudden she wants to eat with her hands again???
Just the last couple days... I give her a spoon or fork and she takes a few bites with it and then says "no spoon, haans (hands)" and throws a fit and flat out refuses to eat unless it's with her hands. I thought we were way past this and it's so messy!!
Phase? Maybe I should get her a toy story theme spoon/fork set.

I will give Lauren her plate or bowl of food with a fork and spoon and she will use the utensils for a minute, then put then down, dump out the food and eat with her hands....when she has yogurt or ketchup it gets pretty messy all the way up her elbows and hands...

Was it all of a sudden for you guys or has it always been like that? Sienna has been eating with a spoon/fork consistently for i'd say the last 9 months or so (she'll be 2 on sat)...

Re: All of a sudden she wants to eat with her hands again???
Definetly all of a sudden. I just told DH that our DS' eating habit are atrocious. Up until about a month ago he would eat so nice with his fork and spoon off his plate. Now he holds his fork in one hand and shove the food in with the other...or the best....he just shoves his face in the plate and eats it like a dog When I correct him, he dumps the plate on the table or on the floor. He is 22 months. I hope it is just a phase.

Re: All of a sudden she wants to eat with her hands again???
He always wants a spoon or fork in his hands but doesn't use it all the time either. I'm not concerned though b/c he knows how to use them, kwim? It's just faster for them to use their hands, Joey's able to SHOVEL it in his mouth lol.
& the usual . . ."they won't go to college eating with their hands" haha

Re: All of a sudden she wants to eat with her hands again???
Well I can't relate b/c my DS still doesn't use utensils. He's just now letting me show him how to feed himself with a spoon. He used to flip out if I tried to touch his hands during meal time. It never really bothered me b/c I just wanted him to eat. How he ate wasn't a priority.
But I agree with Devon. She knows how to do it properly, which is very important, it's just faster the other way. I'm sure she'll go back to spoons and forks soon.

Hah true, but I know she knows how to use them effectively...she never struggled with getting enough using a fork/spoon. She just wants to eat with her hands for some reason the last few days and with pasta and sauce it's so messy!

Re: All of a sudden she wants to eat with her hands again???
DD has been doing this for the past few months. She knows how to use a fork and spoon and will even hold the fork while she is eating. She just straight out refuses to use them lately, uses her hands and shoves the food in her mouth.
