All of sudden refusing solid food? What do i do?

We started Gianna on oatmeal at 6 months old, she LOVED it! we introduced peas, and some fruit, then we had an incident with carrots.

We do not if was a reaction or a coincidence with her being sick. But PED recommended we keep on just on liquids for a week or so.

Well that week is long over, and my little girl who used to eat so well off the spoon is refusing solids totally.

She presses her lips together and turns away, refuses to eat solids. If i get her to take a little she gags.

This is so weird, she used to take it and gobble anything up we gave her off the spoon.

Should I be concerned? What do i do? How do i ease her back into solids?

HELP!

ETA: She's 7 months old now

maybe try putting the cereal on your finger and dabbing it on her tongue to get her used to the texture?

around 8-9 months my son and others who were around the same age started doing this. If you do a search on "spoon strike" it should come up.

A lot of it had to do with personality and wanting to feed himself. Hewent from being fed baby food to trying to feed himself finger food. It took us a while to figure it out adn it was extremely stressful.

It could also be that she wants real food and not baby food anymore.

Good luck hope that helps.

I totally agree!! My DD did the same thing and she would only eat solids if she could pick it up and eat it herself--which was (and is) a challenge since she is then turned pretty picky, like no fruits and veggies! My doctor said that wasn't a huge concern though.

Actually just now--at 14 mos.--she started eating the "baby" fruits and veggies again off the spoon.
