all these snow days!!
i work in a small office where my boss is understanding of the weather and me being 8 months preg
What do you girls do? track into work in these crazy storms?
At first i did go to work until my doc told me he rather me not- so now on snow days i try to work from home.
trust me i do not take advantage- but i do have my fair share.

all these snow days!!
I used a sick day last week during Wednesday's ice storm. Went in, grabbed work, and drove right back home during last Monday's snow. The week before I also worked from home a day. I believe they are going to let me bring work home tomorrow just in case.
I had to use a sick day last week b/c one of the partners thought it wasn't fair that I could work from home when the other girls can't, which normally, I'd totally understand. However, I do not work in the same office as the other girls, I'm now 9 months pregnant and they are not, and they all take public transportation whereas I have to drive. So while I do see how it can be unfair, they don't have to drive in it nor would they even know!

Re: all these snow days!!
If it looks like it's going to be a big storm, I work from home that day. We went in one time when it was a lot of snow and took us forever to get home. My company is totally understanding of WFH so just end up going that route :)

all these snow days!!
I am going thru the same thing right now. With the first storm my director told me not to even bother coming in to work from home Bc she was concerned of my safety and being 7 months pregnant driving in it. The second storm I was already off so that easy. The third storm I left early but I made up the hours the following day. And the storm last week I went in for. Now I don't know what to do about tomorrow

I know this is all so hard, yet so dangerous for us
I completely understand how the other co workers would feel- if i wasnt preg and i had to travel in this snow i would be upset as well

I would never care. When I wasn't preg all these yrs and my co-workers were I would get upset for them if someone kept coming in sick. So disrespectful and inconsiderate to others. Same with coming into work - if its unsafe or problematic what do I care who can come in or not? And that goes towards non preg ppl as well. Everyone has dif circumstances and as I see it as adults we shld all understand that.
that being said, my job has no issues working from home. even if I am sick I usually work from home, so having a storm is same. We have full access from home to our work computers and its almost as being in office. I know I am lucky in this respect (or maybe not as I am expected always to answer emails during my evening, weekends and work at home for various occasions when needed LOL)

Re: all these snow days!!
I have almost full access from home so i just stay home. I think I have actually been more productive on the days I am home lately. My boss is understanding about people's commutes regardless of me being pregnant. I think the majority of my office has been working from home on the really bad snow days since most of our work can be done remotely.

all these snow days!!
I work for my dad who is the founding partner of the firm. He has an equal partner but there is no one "above" him. I am an employee and very rarely get special "benefits" b/c of who my father is. However, last week when I was told by one of the jr. partners whom I work directly with, that I could not work from home, he was pissed. So, today he called her (we work in different offices) and told her that he wants me to be able to work from home tomorrow if need be. Like I mentioned in my previous post, I am the only employee where I am so if I were to work from home, the only people who would know would be my dad, the jr. partner, and my sister's bf who works in my office.
When she told me that my dad called her, she was so unbelievably dramatic. She's like, this needs to stay between you, me, and your dad and I don't know how I'm going to tell the other partner (who is on vacation and like i said, is equal to my dad). Why is she being so freakin dramatic?! She told me to not even tell my sister's bf (which I already did b/c he was like wtf is going on) and even he is like, you're pregnant, if the roads are bad and you can work from home, that makes the most sense.

reading this it boggles my mind why its even an issue. sometimes ppl just enjoy extra drama for no reason. I find it hard to believe that anyone will have an issue with a preggo working from home during a bad weather situation. hope this situation will resolve with no more drama

Thanks! It's really so stupid. My dad just called me to make sure I was told about working from home and I told him how dramatic she was being and he was literally saying WTFFFFF is wrong with her? I mean, technically he is her superior. It's so stupid. Plus he even said that he would have no problem with everyone being able to work from home but there are only a select few that he'd trust to actually do work. I want to be able to do this more frequently so when I do get the chance to work from home, I get even more work done so really it's a win-win! She's just a drama queen.

So far my school has closed twice and I stayed home the third time even though they weren't closed. I just feel like I can't risk it.

Re: all these snow days!!
I am 38 weeks, and I was trying to work until Friday, but this snow has forced me to start my leave early. Its just not safe at this point. I live in Nassau and have been commuting to the south Bronx every day.
I don't want to have my baby on the side of the LIE!

At first I felt guilty this morning not going into work, but seeing how much snow we already have, guilt went away quickly. I'll be working from home today.

Re: all these snow days!!
I have taken So many days this winter between some pre baby vacation days and my daughters daycare closing every time it snows, I was actually going in today. Then I went to clean off my car and realized this 35 week pregger is nuts to drive. I still feel guilty
