Almost 2cm dilated and 75% effaced. Sound promising?

I know this means nothing but just wondering, this is a good sign right? Im 38wks 5days and last week I was not dilated at all but cervix was thinning...today I am almost 2cms and 75% effaced. Based on that do you think it might be soon for me or can I stay like this for many more weeks to come?

I was that for weeks and was induced at 40w 6d.....BUT I know so many others who was that for a day and their water broke within days and went into labor on their own.....everyone is really so different it is so hard to tell.

You can stay like that for weeks. There really is no way of knowing. I know a lot of people that stayed like that for a few weeks before labor started. Good luck!!!

I was 1 cm at 36 w, 2 cm at 37 w, and 3 cm at 38 w... went into labor at 39 w 5 d and DD was born exactly one day early.

The good thing about being somewhat dilated and effaced is that it means your body is gearing up and there's likelihood of progression (at least from what I understand -- I'm no doctor lol) whether it be naturally or if you are induced. So that's VERY good!!!!

I suggest sex if you can handle it and bouncing and rotating on a yoga ball... and lots of pineapple and spicy foods. You know, all the old wives tales and then some.

I'll say you'll go around your due date or maybe right after...I was 100% effaced and 3cm for about a week after I los my mucous plug...but of course everyone is different. Good luck you're almost there!

Hang in there. It's got to be soon .

I was 3cm and almost completely effaced for the last 3 weeks of my last pregnancy and wound up being induced!

I was basically the same as you and was induced at 40+3. Lol. But that's a nice favorable cervix and you could totally go at any minute.. Or walk around like that for weeks. Sorry

Walk!!! Best and easiest thing you can do to speed things up. But yeah, you can stay like that for weeks, I wouldn't put toooo much stock in it.

I was nothing the last day I got checked and then had my dd 12 hrs later ! You never know

With #1 this is how I progressed:
36 weeks: 1 cm
37 weeks: 1 cm and 50% effaced
38 weeks: 1 cm and 80% effaced
39 weeks: 3 cm and 100% effaced

was born at 39 weeks, 3 days.

With #2:
36 weeks: 1 cm
37 weeks: 1 cm
38 weeks, 3 days: 1.5cm
Now waiting....

Sorry, but there's really no way to predict when you're going to go into labor. The fact that you're effaced and dilated is good, but you could go tomorrow or could be like this for two weeks.
