I dont know what is scarier, that we live in a world that "alternative facts" are being made by the White House and its staff OR that there is people who not only willing accept it but ACTIVELY DEFEND it.
And some actually will believe there's such a thing as alternative facts now. Smh.
FB is filled with people who now believe in Alternate Facts, and back up Trump over the "Fake Media".
There's a balance in play now. Hopefully the group who believe that there is a "fake media" and "alternative facts" gets smaller and smaller, and not larger over time. As long as people believe it's the media's fault for everything, Trump will continue to exploit that to hide everything terrible that he does.

Re: Alternative facts
This is not about a policy decision that some disagree with. This is about a totally corrupt, Anti-American approach to governing.
Time for us to speak up.
Personally, I have no respect for anyone who cannot bring themselves to condemn several things, from the lies, to the rhetoric, to the way the press is being handled, to the deliberate provocation of our enemies (and some of our allies) with pointless rhetoric that disrupts the world order that has protected us so well until now....
No. Respect.
I have no patience for people who are ill informed or in denial.
I would 100% rather listen to a smart informed person with whom I disagree than anyone who can't be bothered with facts.

Very true.
Sadly, there is a very much a sheep mentality among many of his supporters. He could hang a baby in the middle of the mall in D.C., completely deny it was him and people would just blindly go along even though they saw it with their own eyes!
I don't have a problem with people supporting someone I don't however, demonstrate some common sense and instead of turning a blind eye to EVERYTHING this man is saying and doing do your own HW and recognize when something seems fishy instead of just saying, "FAKE NEWS!!! NOT GOOD!! GIVE THE MAN A CHANCE". Give him a chance??................we're already off to a VERY shaky start here and unless the American public recognizes that and uses their voice, it's not going to be a pleasant 4 yrs in this nation.

This is what worries me, just how easily susceptible some people are to propaganda and lies.

people don't understand history and how totalitarian regimes develop. this is way past Democrat vs. Republican. This is someone who wants to be a dictator. All of the people on here who are outraged, get involved in as much direct advocacy as possible.

In his first appearance since lying to the public on Saturday, White House press secretary Sean Spicer was unapologetic.
“I believe that we have to be honest with the American people, but I think sometimes we can disagree with the facts,” Spicer told reporters Monday in the first press briefing under President Donald Trump. ...
"sometimes we can disagree with the facts"...

Look - I hate the man. And everything he stands for. I cannot find one redeeming quality.
But abusing our senses and gaslighting us with his "alternative facts" is, frankly, is something that is so incredibly demeaning and again, abusive.
We cannot let this man dictate our reality to suit his ego.
THIS CANNOT BE NORMAL.

While I will agree it is a bit of a cop out....he did amend his words at the press conference meaning it was the most seen inauguration in person and around the world, clarifying he meant in person, tv and on line. This is probably true since everyone is watching on devices and such now and will probably increase viewers for any president going forward. He also said that is was not the biggest crowd in person, so at least he admitted something.
I think he did great today at the press conference. I think he answered all questions and even got the floor plan for the ridiculous question about who was sitting in the first rows at the CIA meeting.

I really think I agree. I thought the same with each cabinet pick the liar-in-chief was putting forward. Each one seems just a bit more ridiculous. Energy, lets put up the guy who wanted to get rid of it. EPA - climate change denier. Education - a woman who has zero experience with Public schools and would like to dismantle the system. Oh, the surgeon who doesn't think he's qualified to be head of Health and Human Services - well Housing and Development it is. And the list goes on.....

Disnt CBS confirm that he hired people or it was his own people cheering during CIA meeting?
That is what CBS was claiming. They said that they had an insider who said that Trump filled the first 3 rows with his people. They went back to the seating chart and it was all CIA people and the trump folks, about 10 where on the sidelines.

http://www.snopes.com/2017/01/23/trump-crowd-at-cia/
According to CBS News, an "uncomfortable" visit President Donald Trump paid to CIA headquarters on his second day in office (21 January 2017) left the U.S. intelligence community with a "sense of unease" and "made relations with the intelligence community worse," in part because the Trump team supposedly brought along a contingent of dozens loyal supporters who were seated in the first few rows to cheer his remarks — but the CIA's workforce supposedly didn't share in that cheering:
Authorities are pushing back against the perception that the CIA workforce was cheering for the president. They say the first three rows in front of the president were largely made up of supporters of Mr. Trump’s campaign.
An official with knowledge of the make-up of the crowd says that there were about 40 people who’d been invited by the Trump, Mike Pence and Rep. Mike Pompeo teams. The Trump team originally expected Rep. Pompeo, R-Kansas, to be sworn in during the event as the next CIA director, but the vote to confirm him was delayed by Senate Democrats. Also sitting in the first several rows in front of the president was the CIA’s senior leadership, which was not cheering the remarks.
White House press secretary Sean Spicer asserted during a press briefing two days later that the White House team had brought ten people at most with them to CIA headquarters:
QUESTION: Those with knowledge of who was in the room in the lobby of the CIA that senior leadership were not among those hooting and hollering and that were some 40 people who were in the first front rows who were brought in by Trump and Pence and Pompeo. I'd like to give you a chance to respond to that recording.
SPICER: I don't think that's accurate at all. In fact I think if you listen to the audio of it, you can hear the excitement that exists there. There were some people that had to be off camera for obvious reasons, but I think when you look at the number of people that were there, the audio alone speaks volumes to what had happened. I don't think that there's any question about that.
QUESTION: So the people in the front who were seen on camera, those were CIA employees?
SPICER: Honestly, I don't have a seating chart. I think we had a very small footprint going over there. I don't know who exactly went over. But, I don't know, maybe 10 people, at most. So, 10 out of 400, plus.
QUESTION: The people who were in the front row, so those were CIA employees?
SPICER: Some.
QUESTION: Some of them were not?
SPICER: I'm sure we seated -- I don't -- I can't say -- I'm not really sure why this matters. I mean, 10 people didn't yell that loud.
Later in the briefing Spicer averred that no one sitting in the front row during the CIA visit was a member of the Trump contingent but demurred about who might have been seated elsewhere:
SPICER: I just got handed a note. All of the people -- no one in the front row was Trump. They were all CIA.
QUESTION: Front row?
SPICER: That's what you asked.
QUESTION: I said the first three rows.
SPICER: OK. I'll find out who the other two were. (LAUGHTER) I'm sorry, I just got you the front row, give me a second, I'll get the second and the third. Do you want to get to the fourth and fifth, or -- OK, let me see what I can do.
The CBS report went on to note that:
A source who is familiar with the planning of the president’s CIA visit saw Spicer’s briefing, however, and firmly denied Spicer’s response was accurate.
Officials acknowledge that Mr. Trump does have his supporters within the CIA workforce, many of whom were interspersed among the rank and file standing off to the president’s right.
There were about 400 members of the workforce who RSVP’d for the event out of thousands who received an invitation in their email. Officials dismiss White House claims that there were people waiting to get into the event.
Intelligence sources say many in the workforce were stunned and at times offended by the president’s tone which seemed to evolve into a version of speeches he’d used on the campaign trail.
Even if there were only 10 (which was confirmed by Spicer), that's all you really need to get much more applause. There are plenty of articles about how just a few people clapping in a crowd can get most of the crowd clapping, even if they wouldn't have normally.

The point should be not how loudly people were or not clapping but that CBS put out an unsubstantiated story from a "source" that was not true. This is the problem on both sides that everyone jumps to be the first to report on something without following up on the truth. That is why things go viral and half the crap we read (and I'm not talking just about Trump) are not the full facts. News stations are suppose to be reporting factual news, not stories they think might be true.

But the story itself was true. Trump DID hire/bring his own people in (as confirmed by Spicer) just to clap and cheer. I don't think the story is 10 vs 40. I think the story is that the cheering isn't from the CIA people alone, but started by Trump's minions.
