I would do it...I'm pretty laid-back about almost everything though!

Did a very pretty brunette (possibly with a very chubby 1year old) ask you how old your baby is today??? My friend told me she was a BBB today and some woman had her 9 day old newborn out. She said she couldn't get over how tiny your LO was b/c her baby was born at almost 9lbs! She said she wouldnt have taken out a baby that young, but I defended you by saying she is probably going crazy in the house and why not take the baby to a BABY store??? I just think that is funny if that was you
LOL!! That was me! I got so many "I can't believe you're baby is only 9 days and you have her out already" comments there. Thanks for sticking up for me. It was a much needed trip and really not such a big deal.

I think it is ironic that so many people don't take their babies out, but yet have visitors over, or they go to family's houses, where the baby can catch a bug just as easily..just something i have noticed

agreed-and that within the week of giving birth you have to take the baby to the PED office which is ther germiest place ever! once i had to take DD/DS there and sit in the gross waiting room, i realized a quick trip with the visor down to the store wouldn't be the worst. but it is a personal choice and you gotta do what you're comfortable with. wouldn't fault a mom either way.

I wouldn't. In my opinion, its not worth it. It's cold out and flu season. I had cabin fever but I waited to take my DS out. He just started going to stores and he's almost 4 months. Better safe than sorry is how I feel about it. 9 days old is way too young, why would you want to risk it?
my thoughts exactly

but the ped office is something you have to do. you dont HAVE to go to the mall/store etc.
i agree that visitors can EASILY bring in germs which always made me uneasy hence even more so why i wasnt going to double the chances by then brinigng DS to stores

Re: Am I crazy to want to take my 9 day old to BBB for an outing?
We took DD out in public 6 days after she was born, and it WAS around other people - she survived! we were out for her first well-visit and then went to where we work to show her off. I was the one hurting after, not the best idea to be shlepping around town 6 days post-op
then again, it was Sept.
as long as you keep her warm and no one sneezes in her face she'll be fine!

I did. I just kept the cover up on the car seat so no one could breath on him.

I would go, it's not really that cold out, if you bundle her up well it's fine.
ETA: Unless someone touches her or sneezes/coughs on her she's not going to catch anything. Viruses don't just float around in the air looking for someone to attack Can you keep the sunshade on the infant carrier up, with a blanket over it?
ITA I had DS out right away and often. He's 9 months old and has never been sick!

I did too and my DD has never been sick either. I did stay away from the mall though for about 3 months

I would - it's not like you are going to have the front desk make an announcement that people can take turns holding her! Enjoy yourself - getting out will make you feel so much better!
LOVE this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
IMO, there is no wrong or right. Some people take their babies out early on and some wait 3 months. Me personally, I could NEVER wait 3 months. I was out early with DC #1 and even earlier with DC #2.
