am I feeding DS enough solids?
DS started cereal almost 3 weeks ago. We started with just a teaspoon and now he's up to a heeping tablespoon. He gets the cereal as his "dinner" and then he gets a 6 oz bottle. After having cereal for 2 weeks, we've now started with fruits and veggies. He had applesauce for 4 days and now he's onto carrots. I give him a slightly overflowing teaspoon of fruit/veggie at lunch time and then his 6 oz bottle. Should I also be giving him cereal in the am for breakfast?

Re: am I feeding DS enough solids?
This is Steve's menu. He eats all the stage one fruits and veggies, with exception of peas. They are way too gassy for him.
5am-4oz 7am-2 tablespoons cereal, 1/2 jar of fruit and 4 oz 11 or 12 - 4 oz and 1/2 or whole jar (depending on how hungry...if he eats 1/2 and wants more, I give him the rest) of veggies. Little fruit for "desert." 1, 1:30 - 4 oz 5-4 oz 6-2 tablespoons cereal, 1/2 jar of fruit and 2 or 3 ozs 8-6 oz
Wow, now that I write it down, it looks like a lot. I thought he wasn't eating enough
He wont take more than 4 oz at a bottle since he has been eating the solids (he used to drink 8 oz bottles, so I don't get it ) and he looks for another 4 oz about an hour after his solid meal. Sometimes I feel like I'm always feeding him!
I think Luka is eating enough. You can try giving him cereal and apples at night before his last bottle. Then, if he likes that after a week or two, give him the veggies at lunch. that is what I did. Now, Steven gets mad if he doesn't get his veggies at lunch
ETA: Oops, I see thaty ou give him the cereal at dinner. Maybe try giving him some in the morning.

Considering lots of people do no solids until 6 months, whatever amount you are giving is fine. Its just practice at this point, the nutrition is still from BF/Formula.

Re: am I feeding DS enough solids?
My dd will be 6 mos 4/6. She is getting two teaspoons of cereal in the am along with 2 teaspoons of apple sauce. Then for lunch and dinner I give her at least two teaspoons veggies...maybe more depending on how hungry she is.

Luca has been eyeing food for a while and h'e s pretty big boy. So my Dr. and I decided he was ready for solids. If your DS seems completely satisfied with his bottles and is showing no interest when you eat, then you can probably wait. Otherwise, start him with cereal.
