Re: Am I the only one excited
One thing I’ve noticed, at least in this forum…people that were so adamant about masks and so against not wearing them are now in favor of being optional. Good for them for finally seeing the importance of choosing what’s best for u, hurray! I wish they saw the importance of personal choice before when many people that had problems with masks were harassed for their choices.

I feel like there are two types of people. Those who can realize that things may have changed and are flexible with their views, and those that double down even in the face of information that might prove them wrong or show that things are different now.

Agree!
Of course norms and things are going to change. It was a pandemic. I am sure masks will stay in medical facilities. To me its the same as the airport post 9-11. Now people don't even remember that you were able to walk your family right to the gate to send them off.

I remember and it stinks but it is something we have gotten used to the last 20 years. :(

But it's more than that. I am happy we don't have to wear masks everywhere anymore, and I think a lot of the rules now are dumb- but I also understand that some people still want to wear them and that's okay too. I think there are some people here who only want to hear that no one will ever have to wear a mask again and if anyone does, they will question it and make that person feel bad. We have the freedom to decide in so many places and I"m sure we'll have that everywhere soon enough. So, I will make my choise and you (the general you) can make yours and just not judge eachother- wouldn't that be a wonderful thing?

This exactly. People have been arguing for Choice for 2 years now. We have that choice so let people do as they wish. I could care less if someone wants to wear a mask or doesn't. I do what is best for me and my family. I do not have to understand other's choices but I do have to respect them.

I think some will and do need help after all of this and the questioning of mask wearing might help their overall health as to many it is not just that they are trying to be cautious. It has turned into something more mentally and it is just not good.
I was speaking to a coworker who said that he JUST was able to see family and it was all because of his wife and she basically has lost her mind over all of this and it has affected her so badly.

I agree as well. I am happy not to wear a mask but others want to - for a myriad of reasons.

I totally agree- I Work from home anyway, but went into the city for a dinner and there was a coworker there who hadn't been into the city in over 2 years, who wore her mask as we walked to our table in the restaurant & to go to the bathroom, used sanitizer, rarely goes anywhere- that's not me. But, hey, if that's what she wants and how she feels-- it's fine with me. We have an office that should have about 30 people in and only 8 have agreed to come back- some are scared, some just don't want to commute again after 2 years. Doesn't affect me and maybe sometimes I roll my eyes, but I don't actually care- it's their choice to live like that and literally does not affect me.

TBH I don’t care what anyone does. But it does bother me when there is page after page on here about how you will get sick on a plane because of the air quality when that is simply not true. Maybe in 1985, but not now. And these are the same people spewing that we need to rely on science over and over and over but they don’t take their own advice. People are so strong in their convictions and they can just not admit that they might be wrong.

Oh, I agree with that as well. LOL I was all about the masks 2 years ago when I thought this would end. I followed most of the legitimate guidance out there. But, as time passes and the rules no longer make sense - I've tried to look at this logically. Having to wear a mask in the terminal but not on the plane- doesn't make sense. I am flying a few times this summer and hoping it's just NO masks at all..but if someone on the plane decides to wear a mask, I'm not going to judge them. right now, I have no desire to sit on a plane for hours with a mask in my current situation.

Re: Am I the only one excited
I could quote a lot of people but I'll just say generally that the situation has changed and it makes sense for masks to be optional in most situations now.
April 2020 was not the same as April 2022. Mandates made sense then. Two years ago this was more deadly and we had no vaccine. N95s - which do more to protect the wearer than other kinds - are more available and cheaper now. It's a different world and of course people should adjust.
We flew last week and we didn't wear masks although I had a bunch with me just in case we were in a situation where I thought we should wear them. I did however wear one on the LIRR this afternoon because people were packed in tight and I have literally zero faith in their circulation systems. It wasn't a big deal to me. I put it on and didn't give it another thought until I took it off.
We are vaxxed and boosted. DH is even eligible for his second booster. We'll mask up if we need to but those occasions are much less common. I am grateful for the scientific advancements that made this possible and we probably wouldn't even be talking about this on the board anymore if it weren't for one person.

Yup. I can see not wanting to commute after having the flexibility of working at home for 2 years, I have a hard enough time going in once a week and I live 2 miles from my office lol. I just logged back on to do more work now, I wouldn't have done that when I was in the office full time - home is home and work was work... I feel the work life balance has become more blurry where I feel like I'm doing both all the time lol.
We have been ordered back in on one day in May and people are already freaking out (some are legit nervous, but others are playing the nervous card while they are out there living their best life like Covid never existed).

I think some will and do need help after all of this and the questioning of mask wearing might help their overall health as to many it is not just that they are trying to be cautious. It has turned into something more mentally and it is just not good.
I was speaking to a coworker who said that he JUST was able to see family and it was all because of his wife and she basically has lost her mind over all of this and it has affected her so badly.
There are definitely cases like this - jeez, we were told at the beginning if we don't mask we likely would kill someone. That will have an impact.
I have coworkers who haven't left their houses as well and some who refuse to go back to work (some legit scared, others who I just don't think want to).
It is very sad what it has done to some people. Maybe more than we know as we don’t ask strangers and just accept that some still want to wear a mask without really knowing why. I know some people who have worn them after no one was but I know why as they have spoken about it.

This exactly. People have been arguing for Choice for 2 years now. We have that choice so let people do as they wish. I could care less if someone wants to wear a mask or doesn't. I do what is best for me and my family. I do not have to understand other's choices but I do have to respect them.
I agree as well.
It boggles my mind that people care so much about WHY other people do what they do.
Why is it a bad thing to be curious? It’s an actually career and Psychologists are very popular.
Psychology is the scientific study of the mind and behavior. Psychologists are actively involved in studying and understanding mental processes, brain functions, and behavior.

You care enough to roll your eyes though.

I always feel like I am the odd one out as I have gone to packed places for almost a year now. Inside and out. Hundreds of people shoulder to shoulder, no masks or minimal. Never bothered me and I am unvaccinated.

You had to see opening day at Citi Field last Friday. Omg packed. 55,000 people packed in tight seats, shoulder to shoulder lines for food and beer, not a mask in site. Same on the packed trains to and from. So you are definitely not alone judging by that experience alone.

Yup and that has been going on since last year in many places. Except on this board it seems.

But here's the thing. A lot of people do still want to and are still talking about it. This post is about how the mask mandate was just lifted on planes. That is something completely new. And it was of particular interest to me (and many others) because I travel a lot and I have family that works in the airline industry. If you don't care to talk about it anymore then just don't follow the post and even better, don't post on it. Why begrudge someone the right to post about something that they might find interesting?
