Amnio/CVS question....
Has anyone elected to have these procedures even if there was no risk revealed from other tests?
For example, if all the other tests (ultrascreen, blood, etc) came back fine, would/did you elect to have either of those procedures.
I am terrified there may be something wrong and sometimes wonder if having one of these procedures would finally put me at ease and allow me to relax and just be excited......
My doctor said there is less than a 1% chance of mc with amnio, and about 1% in CVS.

I don't know if your insurance would pay for these tests voluntarily. I believe they are on a need basis.
Don't stress yourself out too much, it doesn't help either

Re: Amnio/CVS question....
My Dr said my risk of M/C for an amnio was 1 in 200.
My risk for downs ( based on my ultrascreen) was 1 in ( I forget but over 1000)
NEVER would I take the chance if I thought all was ok.
I know too many people who lost babies after amnio's.
I think they should be used only when you might terminate or you have a high risk.
A level 2 sono can tell you a LOT...
Just my opinion, I know I feel strongly about it though....And it may not be right for others....
So good luck with whatever decision you do make.

Re: Amnio/CVS question....
my doctor talked to me about the ultrascreen vs the cvs and same as donna, the risk wasnt worth it for me... she gave me a chance of 1 in 200 of m/c but my chance of having a baby with down's is 1 in 1000 I think... I didnt want to risk it...
