Re: And of course a spinoff - SAHM's a question about cleaning if you don't have a cleaning person
All week long I do surface cleaning- dishes, dusting & vacuuming, wiping down tables/counters. Throughout the week I will do deep cleaning, one room at a time.

I do a daily list. I am afraid to post for fear of people thinking I am a giant freak.

I have a love for the vacuum, so that gets done at least 3 times a day. ( I do seriously love to vacuum). I clean my kitchen after each meal, sweep, bleach counters and wipe table down even though we don't use it. I dust my living room and pictures daily. I make beds 6 out of the 7 days. I clean my bathroom, every day. I hate a funky bathroom. I do serious cleaning, like moving furniture, under couches in couches, every Friday while ds is in daycare. I scrub the shower and bathroom floors on weds when ds is in daycare. But like I said, I clean it daily. I personally find cleaning to be relaxing.
I am a FTWM, but I am the same as you. I love to clean. I vacuum, clean the kitchen, bathroom and dust daily. When you maintain the house daily it doesn't take as long as it would someone who does it weekly.
I never had an issue with my kids not "letting" me do something. If they start to get in the way I just give them a dust cloth and let them "help".

I am a mix of you too. I am very lucky that both kids are great while I clean. Actually, they fight less when they know I clean(maybe I should clean more ). I also have to do it all in one day. I tried the room a day thing and I always felt my house was dirty. If I keep up with straightening up durning the week it only takes me about 3-4 hours to clean the entire house which isn't bad. I try and do it when they are in school so I can get it done faster. This has been my routine since D was 6 months old.

Any time you want to "relax" some more, feel free to come by my place.
I do little projects at a time. With a toddler and an infant, there's no way I could do it all in one shot. I'm lucky if I get thru one chore uninterrupted. Nap time is usually when I get things done...it's not easy and I feel like my house still looks like a tornado went thru it at times.

Ummmm WHAT? HOLY CRAPPP!!!
First of all, how do you do it? Seriously? Like I said in the other thread, I can't pee without both kids in the bathroom with me, I couldn't imagine being able to dust.
And, what vacuum do you have? I have a Dyson and I'm about to throw it out the window! My cleaning people have some industrial vacuum that I'm obsessed with and need to get. I'm on the hunt for a new one!
Your living space is also the kids play area which makes it harder to maintain and things get dirtier/messier faster.
We had the Dyson and I got rid of it for an Electrolux. LOVE it!

Saturday mornings DH entertains the kids while I deep clean the house. I start at 7am and I am done no later than 10am and I have the rest of the day. Like you, this is something I have done since DS was an infant so it just stuck.

Re: And of course a spinoff - SAHM's a question about cleaning if you don't have a cleaning person
I hve to do little by little. Sometimes I'll do less during the day and more at night, then somedays I keep up with it all day and dont have much to do at night. I definitely do not have a cleaning schedule AT ALL. I tried bc I love organization and schedules but its just not practical for me. I do things whenever I can.

Re: And of course a spinoff - SAHM's a question about cleaning if you don't have a cleaning person
There's thing I clean daily, things I clean little by little and things I never clean which are inside my fridge and inside my windows. I am going to make time to do the fridge this weekend.

DH will be so shocked to read that someone is as OCD with house cleaning as I am. LOLOL
Everything you wrote is exactly how I am with cleaning. I find it relaxing and can't relax until everything is in place and spotless. Plus germs skeeve me out.
My vacuum is out at least 3 times a day, I am very grossed out with bathroom germs so that get cleans daily. I wipe my counters down after every use. I dust furniture every day, than get underneath and behind all of it on Sunday mornings. I mop every other day and use the Swifter in between. I make the bed every day, I hate getting into an unmade bed...I don't sleep well for some reason.
It takes me less than an hour to do because I've gotten it down pat. This is also why I would never get a cleaning lady, they will never be as anal as I am with all of it.

Re: And of course a spinoff - SAHM's a question about cleaning if you don't have a cleaning person
I do most of the heavy cleaning on the weekends when DH is around to help with DS. During the week I keep things swept, dishes, counters clean etc.
I could never do the house in one full sweep, I'd lose my mind I hate to clean so I have to break it up into 1-2 hour bursts.

I do it little by little... the big stuff anyway. I dust one day, vaccume another cleaning the tub gets another day... DH mops and sweeps on the weekend (bc I cannot STAND mopping and sweeping).
I wipe the kitchen and bathroom down every night though. Make the bed everyday... laundry gets put away ASAP. My house always looks tidy but on most days would never pass a white-glove test.

I'm constantly cleaning! I clean the bathroom and kitchen everyday. The bedrooms, livingroom, diningroom I do once or twice a week...vacuum, dust, clean the windows. I pick up toys and straighten up all day long as I go around the house.

My whole house is rarely clean at once. Either I get to do the upstairs or I get to do the downstairs (usually the downstairs wins). Once in a blue I will get the whole house done.
