And the shop is officially closed...
Today I put my maternity clothes in bags to give away. I think I was avoiding it even though I did not plan on having any use for them. I also had my 6 week PP appointment today and discussed/received birth control from my OB (mind you I am an IFer who can't get PG without IUI but I want it for cycle regulation and light periods). I've been savoring every moment with my newborn son as I touch his wispy, fine baby hair and marvel in every one of his movements knowing that this is the last newborn of my own. I cover him with kisses and hold him a lot more than maybe I should. Both he and Abby are my miracles and I am blessed that G-d and the miracle of modern science gave them to me. Not a moment goes by that I forget that. However, I am somewhat saddened by the fact that this stage of my life (child bearing) is over. Time to move on.

personally, i don't believe you can hold a baby too much, so I say hold away. (you will have a very secure child who knows how much he is loved!) take in his scent. stare at him. take pictures of everything and nothing at all. and the same for abby. it all goes wayyyyy too fast. so precious, so bitter sweet as they grow.

I am sure it must be sad to get rid of the maternity clothes but just think of the wondering gifts that you have been given. Your children are adorable and enjoy every minute of them.

I packed all the maternity clothes away two weeks ago. I have to say, I did so with a skip in my step! I am in no way saddend my child bearing years are over. I told DH IF I ever come to him and say I want another baby, to have me committed. (Sorry, just how I feel!).

Oh don't apologize at all. I'm with you on that but I suppose "the mourning" is more about getting older and growing up. Ill get over it fast.

Oh dear he did not save for that. I will have to dip into the inheritance or wait for the sale of real estate.
In any case, as long as I look better than he does naked, there will not be a tummy tuck anytime soon or until I forget how lousy my c-section recovery was this time. I've had enough abdominal (and hoo-hah) surgeries to last a lifetime. Tummy tucks are eleventy billion times worse than c-sections. My sister had one and she was far more debilitated than I was. I'd also have to wait until my children were 100% independent and potty trained before I'd even think about it.
Thanks for the support everyone. I'm not one to wallow in self-pity. Im actually looking forward to watching my kids grow up. I see Abby in her swimming lessons and she is making strides in leaps and bounds. Jeremy is showing interest in the world around him. I can't wait til her first dance recital and his first hockey game or maybe HIS first dance recital and HER first hockey game. Whatever they want to be, I will be proud of and revel in the fact that they can wipe their own butts!!! I will NOT miss that.

I know the feeling.
I couldn't get my maternity clothes out of my house fast enough, knowing I have no plans to ever use them again... but at the same time, when I hold DS, feed him, change him, bathe him - I do so knowing that this is the last time I will have a baby of my own. It's bittersweet.
