I packed all the maternity clothes away two weeks ago. I have to say, I did so with a skip in my step! I am in no way saddend my child bearing years are over. I told DH IF I ever come to him and say I want another baby, to have me committed. (Sorry, just how I feel!).
This is how I feel too! My DH had a vasectomy after our 2nd, and I know I'm in the minority but I was so happy driving him to the dr to have it done, lol! I can understand how people might have bittersweet feelings though.

Re: And the shop is officially closed...
The whole thought makes me wonder if I had married younger and had more money would I REALLY want more than 2 kids? I really dont know. Its easy to SAY you want a certain amount of kids and I am sure if we did have three or four kids we could make it work. We do well and can only really do better. People do it with a lot less than we do. Not that I have a basis of comparison because I had BOTH of my kids after 38, but I would imagine if I had my kids 10 years earlier, I'd want more. My mom had kids at 26, 28, 32 and almost 39. BIG difference in how she raised my oldest sister versus how she raised me. I got away with A LOT more than the others did mainly because she was so darn tired. BUT I am a lot healthier at 40 than she probably was at 30 so its all relative.
