anemic?

There was a message on my machine from the nurse at my doctors office saying the she got my results and I'm slightly anemic. I have to call back tomorrow to talk to her. Anyone have this? Will I have to take an iron supplement?

The other strange thing is I don't know what "results" she means. I just went to the lab yesterday for my glucose test and they took some other blood. I couldn't imagine the results would be back the next day and she didn't mention if I pass it or not. Hmmmm......

I also found out that I'm anemic...I was put on Slow FE (iron), and it made me sick to my stomach...I felt absolutely horrible...I think I'm in the minority with that, because most people feel fine, with just minor problems with constipation.

I took myself off the supplement, and when I see the MD next week I'm going to ask him for ther options, because I can't continue taking that stuff. I probably need a different iron supplement.

Anemia (low iron), is common in late pregnancy, has to do with the increase in blood volume.

I wouldn't be too alarmed, especially since it's a slight anemia, your MD will probably want you to take supplements.

I was slightly anemic when preggo - they told me to take iron - it also made me sick - so I just stopped taking it (with the dr's ok) and my baby was fine.

They tested me when I went for my glucose also, I am still taking Ferro Sequels until my 6 week checkup and they retest me

The doctor told me that I am slightly anemic also...they are retesting my blood one more time on Monday during my doctor's appointment. If it still comes back low, I have to take iron pills
