Another birthday party time question...
My DS will be 3 at the end of Jun. I want to have his party at White Post farms. Problem is only times they have available are a Sunday at 5:15, 5:45, or 6. None of which I love.
Would you go to a 3 year old bday party at 5:15? on a Sunday? Real problem is that DS's birthday is on Father's Day and I don't want to do a party that day, so I have to wait until the week after. I'd do the day before Father's Day, but MIL (and by extension my DH) are superstitious about celebrating things before they actually happen (Russian thing apparently).

Re: Another birthday party time question...
I probably would decline a Sunday evening party. I would just do it the week after.

Re: Another birthday party time question...
I would go. I never care about times. It would be good at 5:15 they go to the party dinner is covered we would come home take a bath and then go to bed.
However I think I am the minority here. I do agree with the PP maybe post pone it longer. I would say the weekend after that but that's 4th of july weekend maybe the weekend of the 8th.
I dropped the ball with DS birthday and his birthday party was almost a month after his actual birthday!

I would not. And yes, I have a friend who is russian and celebrating a birthday before the actual birthday is a BIG no no!

Another birthday party time question...
I would go. I figure the party will tire my kids out and hey will hopefully pass out the minute we get home!

Sunday evening is the worst time for a party. I'd pick another weekend.

Yes. I'd go. We don't decline family or friend's parties unless it's really inconvenient or we have something else.
I'd go with 5:15. This way you have dinner and dessert for the children and send them home tired and in time for baths/showers and bed. My boys are older, but we didn't mind changing the schedule a bit when they were younger for an occasion. Plus, it's summer time. Days are longer so it'll still be light out when they go home.

Re: Another birthday party time question...
5:15 would be fine with me.. I assume it would be over by 7 and I wouldn't have to worry about dinner. We could be home by 7:30 for bath time and bed.

Re: Another birthday party time question...
It would be fine for me. Sunday early evening isn't anything special in our book.
DD doesn't go to bed until after 830 or so anyway
No biggie

Another birthday party time question...
I hate doing anything on Sunday evenings as it is our time to get set for the week. Unless it was DS's close firend I would say no.
Can you do it another weekend? My DS's birthday is 3 days after xmas and we had his party in the end of January because it worked the best.

Another birthday party time question...
Id be ok with a sunday at 5:15 especially in the summer. I would not be ok with fathers day. The only other thing is with white post - the nice thing is that your guests can stay at the farm after the party and enjoy the place and you wont really be able to take advantage of that with an evening party. If you could do it the weekend after and pick an earlier time I think thats better and would make your MIL and DH happy too! (My family follows the same superstition )

Re: Another birthday party time question...
Thanks for the replies.... I didn't think about the part that guests can stay longer at the farm too. I'll have to talk it over with my DH. The following weekend is 2 of his friends from daycare's birthdays so I'd feel obligated to at least check with their moms to avoid overlap. And then I think the following weekend is DS's cousins birthday. Maybe I'll check further into July. But seems like even though it's a little expensive White Post is a pretty popular birthday party place. This is my first time doing a kids party and I didn't know how far in advance to start looking.
I'll call back and check out the first two weeks in July.... Otherwise I'll think of a plan B. Probably some bounce house place lol.

This is actually a good point. I'd probably use this as an excuse to have a quiet dinner- DD already ate and can go to bed!
OP, I change my answer

That's a good perspective. See 5:15 on a Saturday I would like for the same reason. DS is fed, tired, and go to sleep. My DH and I usually wait to eat after he goes to sleep anyway.

I like to prep for the week ahead on Sunday nights, so I don't think those times are great.

Sunday evening wouldn't be my ideal time, but I wouldn't say no on the time alone.

Re: Another birthday party time question...
The time wouldn't bother me for an older child (5+), but a lot of 3 year olds are in bed by 7/7:30.

Another birthday party time question...
Although it is not an ideal time (5:15), we would go. The other times would be too late.
I assume you will have food there so we would be home around 7:30 and he would be asleep by 8. His usual bedtime is 7:30, but 30 minutes late is not going to make or break him.

See, I feel the opposite. I like my Friday and Saturdays for plans with friends or family. Sundays are usually errands or last minute plans or dinner with family. In the summer we like to hang out by the pool with friends and BBQ. Of course we'd still go, but messes up weekend plans.

We're very flexible so I'd be ok with going to a party on a Sunday evening.
