Another BPA/Bottle question
I'm still not sure I believe all this BPA stuff (and I'm not trying to start another debate now!) but I've thought long and hard about it and have decided that going forward, everything I buy will be BPA free "just-in-case". I've had enough with feeling confused, guilty, and stressed out (in regard to my son's death) to last 10 lifetimes that I don't need to be questioning my decisions every day. I guess I just need to simplify right now. (I must be having "one of those days"... I just threw away all her "unsafe" teethers and packed a bag of returns for BRU!)
I am leaning toward the Born Free bottles (plastic) and have some concerns about the nipples. Some moms seem to complain about leaking and/or nipple flow being inaccurate. I cannot substitute the Avent nipples as some moms have suggested because my DD did not do well with them in the past. Does anyone here know if the nipples from the Breastflow bottles are safe and if so would fit on the Born Free bottles? If not, which Born Free stage nipple would you recommend for a 6 month old who is BF mostly and gets 2 bottles a day 5 days a week (on average)? I thought 3 but now I'm not sure.
Also, we've been using the Avent paci from birth (dd is 6 mos now). Is it too late to switch? We did use Soothies in the beginning as well but have only used Avent for the past 4 months. I was thinking about the Playtex Ortho Pro. Any comments about them?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Re: Another BPA/Bottle question
Much to my chagrin, Breastflow bottles are NOT safe....
I use the Evenflo glass and bpa free plastic, the Gerber Clearviews, and have now added 2 glass Dr. Brown's bottles.
All of those are BPA free, and she has no problem taking any of them.
I also used the Avent paci's (which are the only binkies that she is really tolerating for any period of time), and then found out that they were not BPA free, so I switched her over to the Playtex Binkies which are BPA free. But now I am thinking that the fear is when the plastic is heated - where everything that I am washing for her is done by hand. So I think that in a pinch, I may just give her the Avent binkies if she won't calm down.

See... that's exactly why I didn't switch anything before. I could swear I read that it was a problem when the plastics were heated repeatedly. I too handwash everything so I really wasn't concerned with it. I wish we could get some straight answers!!!

Re: Another BPA/Bottle question
I use the Born Free glass the stage 2 nipple. I love them....dropped one in my porcelain sink yesterday and it didn't break or crack. DD loves them too. Evenflo glass are great also. IMO glass is best.......especially since I heat up DD's milk and nothing cleans as well as glass. I try my best to stay away from plastic bottles although I know when DD gets old enough to hold her own bottle I will have to switch.
