ANOTHER c/s question...can they give you something for your anxiety to take the edge off BEFORE?
I am going to venture "no," but I wonder...
anyone know?

I asked two times at two different hospitals (LIJ and North Shore) and the answer was no. The guy this last time said "the bar would definitely be open" right after the baby was out.

I had a very small dose of anti anxiety meds via my IV during my 2nd c/s.

Yes they can. My anestethiologist (sp) gave me what he called a "cocktail" as soon as we got in the OR. It was wonderful lol

Not so much for anxiety ...no.
I was in labor for 2 days prior to my section. I never slept and they gave me stadol but it was more bc I was so uncomfortable and couldnt sleep. It put me right out!

I was told no, but got something immediately after the baby was out. That's actually when I needed it most, I was starting to panic on the table by then

I had a massive anxiety attack and my OB wanted to give me something but the anestiologist(sp?) said NO, not until the baby is out

No...I was literally in the worst state during my last c/s...borderline psychotic with fear..lol ( and FTR..Once surgery started I was FINE!) ....The Dr said the second that baby comes out, those anxiety meds are going in. LOL ...and literally the Anesthesiologist was waiting for the hands up to give it!

Same here. He told me he was basically handing me a little drink with an umbrella in it...needles to say I enjoyed that "cocktail."

Yes the anestiesiologist gave me something. I was beginning to have an anxiety/panic attack. I couldnt have imagined them saying no to me, I was really nervous and scared.

Same here, a nice dose of Morphine. I can't remember if I asked for something before.
