Another school shooting. At a community college in Oregon
UPDATE: 13 confirmed dead.
Just terrible.
ETS: Some reports are saying 7 people were killed.
Whatever the number it's still too many.
15 reportedly dead, several injured as shooter opens fire at community college campus in Roseburg, Ore.; suspect down
At least 15 people are dead and 20 injured after a shooting at a community college in Oregon Thursday morning, officials said.
The shooter was reported as "down," with no further details immediately available, said Douglass County commissioner Chris Boice.
The two-year school, located about 170 miles south of Portland, has roughly 3,300 full-time students and 16,000 part-time students, according to its website.
This is a developing story. Please check back for updates.

This is disgusting, it's sickening, it's scary and yet nothing will change. I pray everyday that my children go to school and come home safe to me. It's a very sick world we live in. It's become the norm if you're angry or depressed you walk into a school, a mall, movie theater and kill innocent people and than take your own life. I'll never ever understand this. We're doing something wrong in our society.

Last time I went to the movies, I honestly felt like I needed to sit near the exit b/c I was paranoid that something might happen. It's a sad world we live in with all these shootings, and it's disgusting that nothing will be done about it.

A warning message from the shooter who opened fire at an Oregon college allegedly appeared on an internet forum last night. The message, which was posted anonymously on bulletin board 4Chan, read:
'Some of you guys are alright. Don't go to school tomorrow if you are in the northwest.' The message continues 'happening thread will be posted tomorrow morning. so long space robots.' The alleged post is no longer visible on the website - the cached version was first posted on Reddit after the shooting. 'Will post again in am, 10 min countdown. Won't say more to much to prepare,' the post continues. Under the disturbing message several users advise the poster on the best ways to kill people.
One user wrote: 'I suggest you enter a classroom and tell people that you will take them as hostages. Make everyone get in one corner and then open fire. 'Make sure that there is no way that someone can disarm you as it it possible. I suggest you carry a knife on your belt as last resort if someone is holding your gun.' While another user wrote: 'You might want to target a girls school which is safer because there are no beta males throwing themselves for their rescue. 'Do not use a shotgun. I would suggest a powerful assault rifle and a pistol or 2x pistols. Possibly the type of pistols who have 15+ ammo.' [

I had to stop watching only 4 minutes in. Part of me felt like I wouldn't give him the satisfaction of hearing his message.
An underlying theme in a lot of these murders are kids that were bullied, loners, didn't have friends or attention from girls. Mixed with mental illness, inferiority complex, and guns its a horrible and lethal combination. As bad as this is to say, I wish these people would just go straight to suicide instead of mass murder and then ultimately kill themselves anyway

It is sickening and terrifying.
Ever since Sandy Hook, every.single.morning since then, I have said a prayer when I give my son over to his bus, and I have watched him get on the bus every.single day since Sandy Hook. I used to always watch him, but I was also putting my shoes on, looking for my phone, paying attention to the dog, I was multitasking trying to get out the door for work.
Not anymore.....I stop and watch him get on the bus, every morning, just in case, in case its the last time I ever see him. What kind of way is that to have to live? With the world today and the statistic above, you just never know.
I said after Sandy Hook, that I would cherish every morning and every night and I kept that word to myself. Everynight, even if I dont have it in me, even if I dont want to, I sing one more song if they ask for it, I rub their back a little longer if they ask for it. I stopped yelling in the morning when we are rushing to get out the door bc I dont want that to be the last interaction I have. You know what, we miss the bus now sometimes, and you know what we get instead, a nice walk down the street together, just talking while I walk him to school.
Its an awful way to have to think.

But was it confirmed that this is him?
My apologies. Apparently the person in the video was misidentified as the shooter.
The actual shooter has been identified as 26 year old Chris Harper Mercer.

I've been the exact same way. It is a horrible way to have to think, but it has reinforced to me just how scary and fragile life is. I was so disturbed by Sandy Hook and shed so many tears over it. I cannot begin to imagine how the parents of the victims felt. It hurts my heart when I think about it.

You know what is really sad? I'm just not shocked by this. It's just another school shooting (I had family involved in Columbine (he lived), so it always hits close to home) . It's becoming part of everyday life. I'm so sick of it. .

You know what is really sad? I'm just not shocked by this. It's just another school shooting (I had family involved, he lived, in Columbine, so it always hits close to home) . It's becoming part of everyday life. I'm so sick of it. .
I'm not going to say more b/c I don't want to go off on a political rant.
We are so numb to it. On my FB feed, I am the ONLY person who posted anything about it. Thats how numb we are, no one even bats an eye anymore.

YES. My husband is in the history/political science field and I am in the mental health field, and we talk about these 2 issues all the time.
I dont have the answers either, but I DO know that the solutions lies somewhere with a healthy mix of the two.
