Another STD/FMLA ?
1st scenario: I am eligible for FMLA (big Co, over 1 year, etc...). So assuming I leave due to "baby coming out". STD would start at the same time as FMLA.
2nd scenario: I go on STD (bed rest) until I give birth, STD and FMLA also start from day I am on bed rest
3rd scenario: THE ONE WITH THE QUESTION I go on STD due to bed rest BUT come back to work before leaving again to give bith (let's say I go back to work for one week). I did not apply for FMLA during the STD (I was coming back to work).
Would my FMLA start from chirlbirth or from the 1st STD even if I came back?

If your doc puts you on bedrest most companies will offer/force you to apply for STD, which means your company will make you take FMLA along with it. If you go back to work, doc gives you the okay before baby's birth, you're FMLA will stop ticking away until you have the baby and go out again. I was told if the doc orders bedrest even if it's 3 days, it's under FMLA unless you take your own sick/vac time.
BUT, if you decide to take some vacation or sick time to rest and not call it bedrest or the doc doesn't take you out, your FMLA will not be started.
I was out on bedrest 26-36 weeks worked partime 4 hours per day. So the other 4 hours i was out cause of bedrest for the workday, that was 4 hours of FMLA ticked away from me from when I had the baby. So by the time I went out on STD after Gianna was born instead of having 16 weeks (i am in CT), I had 11, which left me ending fmla in July instead of the end of august.
