Another working moms question - what are your "time-savers"?
What things do you do to maximize your time?
I'm used to taking my sweet time in the mornings getting ready for work and I know I"m going to have to be much more efficient now.

Re: Another working moms question - what are your "time-savers"?
I try to have my lunch and Steven's stuff ready the night before.
I take out what he will have for breakfast.
I shower the night before.
Make a bottle and refrigerate it so I don't have to make one (it doesn't take much time, but it still prevents me from having to do it.)
I don't put on the TV or else he never wants to do anything.

Re: Another working moms question - what are your "time-savers"?
DH takes care of Alex in the AM, but to help him out, I pick out her clothes the night before, pack up her bag and make her lunch and put it all in the fridge. Before he wakes up, I warm up some milk and leave it on his nighttable.
When I used to be on babyduty in the Am, I would make sure I picked out my clothes the night before nad would take a shower long before she woke up. When she was young, I could plop her in her bouncy to watch an einstein video for 30mins while I finished getting ready.

Re: Another working moms question - what are your "time-savers"?
It used to be all bottles premade the night before & in the diaper bag.
Outfits picked out for both of you. Never pick up the baby FACING you after you're dressed.
Everything done the night before & ready to go.
I shower the night before.
Now I get up when DH does (5-5:30am) so it give me plenty of time.
When they're older...no TV in the morning at all.
They can't have breakfast until they are fully dressed head to toe.
Biggest time saver of all was Japanese Hair Straightening.
Random sentences...sorry working, on a con call & typing.

I get up super early which helps. I also pack the diaper bag and everything else the night before if she is going to my sister's. I will also let her sit in her high chair and give her some cheerios while I make lunch for myself.

Never pick up the baby FACING you after you're dressed.
Very important! Actually I always pick her up from her shoulders now from her crib- too many wet stains on my stomach/hip (she sometimes pees through her diapers at night).
DH also wakes me up really early (5:30am) so I technically don't have to rush, but I still like to try to make things easier in the morning in case I oversleep...
-Make lunches ahead of time -set out DD's clothes the night before -don't wake DD up until I am almost done getting ready -daycare feeds her pretty much as soon as she gets in, so I don't have to sit her down for breakfast (if she's hungry I'll give her a handful of cereal and/or some milk to tide her over until then) -I actually find having the tv on makes it easier, it distracts her so she doesn't fight me when changing her and dressing her. But I agree when she's older and should be getting herself ready I'll want the tv off

Re: Another working moms question - what are your "time-savers"?
Not working yet but this is what I do when I need to get stuff done.
- I get ready before DS (I am much more efficient) - The diaper bag is always ready and by the door. I repleanish it at night.

No tips sorry, since DS is so young and we have a nanny its not so bad in the mornings, but I'm sure it will get harder as he gets older.

Re: Another working moms question - what are your "time-savers"?
I have everything ready the night before- other than her cereral and my coffee.
I shower while she plays in the crib- she can stay in there happily for up to half an hour in the morning.
Then I get her dressed and changed, give her a bottle in her toddler rocker while I put on makeup and dry hair. My outfit is picked out the night before.
She sits in her chair eating cheerios while I get her breakfast ready and get my coffee in the mug. Then we play for about ten minutes and head off to day care.
This when Dad is out of town- when he is around its SOOO much easier. This morning she all she wanted to do was crawl around while I got ready- I was a nervous wreak!

Re: Another working moms question - what are your "time-savers"?
I agree - getting things ready the night before is a huge help.
Once DS goes to bed I get the following things ready:
Bottles for Daycare (line up the empty bottles and all parts - fill formula bottles with water so that in the morning I just add the formula and assemble)
Breast Pump - have a pump at work but I get all of the parts and bottles ready for the next day
Daycare bag - fill up with any items we need to replace (clothes, blankets, diapers, etc) and place on table
Our bags - DH and I pack our bags for the next day - minus lunch which stays in the fridge
Food - I prepare our breakfast (usually cerea - we eat at work not at homel), lunch and snacks for the next day and pack it all up. Cold items stay in fridge and non-refrigerated items get packed.
Clothes - DH and I pick out our clothes the night before and hang on our closet doors. I put an outfit for DS on his dresser for DH to dress him in the morning.
Dishes - all dishes get washed the night before so that we don't get caught up with them in the morning.
Laundry - one load as soon as we get home goes into the machine and we fold together while we watch some tv.
Organizing - we try to do a quick sweep of the house where we put any odds and ends away before bed. Junk mail gets thrown out right away so there is no chance to build up.
Cleaning - only on the weekends unless absolutely necessary.

Re: Another working moms question - what are your "time-savers"?
Since DH isn't home at night, I am planning on doing a bunch of stuff at night and going to bed super early
At night: Feed Christopher Bathe Christopher Put him to bed. Make sure there is a stocked diaper bag packed for DH. Run dishwasher with bottles Make myself lunch for the next day Pick out our clothes Shower
Morning: Get up at 6:30, feed Christopher and get ready. Leave around 7:30-7:40am, put Christopher in bed with DH.
I am hoping it is a little easier because I don't need to actually take Christopher anywhere...that will be DH's job (for a little while) when he brings him out to me in the evenings.
God help me

Re: Another working moms question - what are your "time-savers"?
Since I'm the only one getting her ready, I get dressed & ready first because it takes me 2x as long to get her dressed. Her bag is also packed the night before and hanging right by the door.
