Anterior placenta

The report from my anatomy scan was just updated on the Drs medical records website and it says I have an anterior placenta. Is that why I don't feel him consistently? I definitely feel kicks but not all the time. Is there anything I should be concerned about?

i had one and felt kicks later than friends/family members did, but there was nothing to be concerned about

I had this with DD and barely felt her throughout the pregnancy. Nothing to be concerned about, the AP acts like a cushion between the kicks.

Like others have said, nothing to be concerned about but you will likely feel less movement. With my first I had an anterior and I never felt much. I'm 23 weeks now with my second and I notice such a difference!

I had it.
It was nothing to worry about, it's just that your placenta attached in the front of you uterus so the baby is behind it.
I barely felt any movement. Like ever.
But I was ok with that.

Thanks all! I'll prob still call my dr about it because my next appt isn't for a couple weeks and I want to see what I should be doing (if anything) since I won't be able to do a kick count or anything. I know my husband really wants to start feeling the kicks so I'm bummed for him that it will take longer!

It's nothing to be concerned about. I had an anterior placenta with DS2 and still felt flutters at 12 weeks. I don't think I really felt kicks until closer to 18-20 weeks, but he was pretty active especially at night. This time, at my 12 week sono, the tech said my placenta was at the top, but I also started feeling flutters right around that time. She said that since this isn't my first, it's still possible to feel movement pretty early. Everyone is different. SIL is also pregnant with her third and hasn't felt anything yet at 16 weeks. I didn't ask, but I know she had an anterior placenta with at least one of her pregnancies and I assume she has that again.

ETA: I never had to do kick counts. I did have weekly NSTs from 32 weeks on with DS2 because they were monitoring growth so I had to pay attention to movement during those. There were definitely times I heard him move on the monitor, but didn't feel anything.

I never had to do kick counts either. My Dr never even mentioned it.
Which was good because I never really felt kicks

My both my twins had one. My one twin that had it and i RARELY felt him, he wasn't active to begin with and the same goes now on the outside he's lazy! My other twin, I felt him move ALL THE TIME even with the anterior placenta he was in there running a marathon. On the outside he's a lunatic, actually frustrated he can't walk/ run at 6 weeks old he tries to push off you and take off, kid is crazy. I never had to do kick counts but you may feel him later in pregnancy as he gets bigger

i had it with my first 2 pregnancies and was told i wouldn't feel kicks until later in my pregnancy but nothing else to worry about. once i started feeling them, i really felt them! funny enough, my third doesn't have anterior placenta and i would say i started feeling kicks right around the same time as the first two. so you never know!

this was me too. I never felt my DD ever. One time the dr asked me did I feel movement today and I couldn't remember.

So she hooked me up to a machine that I guess monitored movement and told me that if this wasn't perfect that I am being sent to the hospital.

She walked in looked at it and said that baby is kicking away right now you don't feel it and I said nope!!

ETA: with my second I didn't have an anterior placenta but I never really felt him either. Def. Felt him more than my DD but not the way everyone describes how the feel movement.

I had this also and rarely felt kicks/movement the entire pregnancy.

I had anterior placenta and it wasn't a risk factor at all but i felt MUCH less movement than other moms do. no big pow kicks, no outlines of feet on my belly. It was much more subtle

My husband was able to feel the baby move last night after all!!

Some people, especially with anterior placenta don't even feel the baby at 23 weeks. Don't be too concerned

I have an anterior placenta this time around. I felt some occasional flutters, but once 23 weeks came around I finally started to feel the baby more regularly. I don't feel every single little thing, but all the big jabs and kicks. So glad to be this far along and finally feeling this little one!

I had this with my 2nd, no concern, only you will feel less movement.
